Or is poop dark?? If dark it is internal bleeding, either from hemorrhage or ulcer. If fresh blood, red, it is from anus, lower intestine hemorrhage, ulcer.

Some milk maybe and a lil butter?

Before someone gets tested to death i would try the simple stuff. A vet will put your friend through every bit of shit you'll pay for and come up with a tums when you're broke

No........... I was told by vet this compounds issues. Cats should NEVER be given cow diary...

Yep, that is why I said give the Pepcid AC, I believe 1/4 pill with food, or mix Slippery Elm Bark or both. This coats stomach and prevents vomiting. Probiotics will also help.

My next visit to vet would be a urine test and nothing more.

These symptoms are exactly those of many who are having problems with Friskies/Purina foods. It is killing many animals. Please google "purina cat food making cats sick" and read anything other than Snopes.

I have lost my cat with the same symptoms.

This will only treat his nausea, not the underlying cause of course. But, blow some pot smoke in the cats face. It will help with his appetite & help him keep the food down a bit better. Years ago, my aunt & uncle would buy weed when their cats were sick. In the event it didn't help they would then take them to the doc.

Before this marijuana & pets & toxicity gets out of hand...let me help out.

Took my dog to a weekend emergency vet clinic. Overnight with IV's cost me $1000.

The dog could not stand up and would fall over. I thought the dog was stroking or ate poison.

After spending the $1000 and vet found nothing wrong with dog.

Days later, my house guest admitted the dog must have eaten his stash.

I researched this. SOLUTION FOR DOGS AFTER DIGESTING MARIJUANA IS SLEEP IT OFF.

Ive been down this road before... lots and lots of dead presidents, but I had the money, and my buddy was worth it. Ended up having cancer and supplements kept him going another year when vet only gave him a month... had vet come to house to send him on his way...

I have wrote down all your suggestions. This is weighing on me. I just gotta make the right decision. I love my cat but I love my husband to. My husband has problems with his liver and I know I will need the money for him. Just thinking about putting more financial stress on us is giving me a headache.

I thought his poo looked dark but the blood work looked normal.

As for the x-ray everything was pretty empty yesterday. No food in his stomach, nothing in the intestines no hair balls, just a little something that the vet said could be stools but she wasn't sure. She did give us two medicines. One the first visit and another when we went yesterday. She said she wanted to see if those worked first. I need to head to bed but I will update tomorrow. Thanks for the pin.

Sounds like it could be a fur ball, at the supermarket you can usually purchase, Laxapet gel, elimination of ingested hair for cats and dogs.
I would definitely try this for a couple of days, before returning to the vet.

hf

I,m sure kitty will be better soon.

Re: Help My Cat Is Sick
he only thing you should be concerned of in the short term is water, your cat needs to remain hydrated.

Ask your doctor for an appetite stimulant, and try to AVOID force feeding, as that turns them off to that particular food. Though if he does not eat after a day or so you may have to revert to revert to it.

Anti-inflammatory
Ant-nausea

The first one is some bad shit... however with that said, I would try it, but SHORT TERM ONLY.

Vet should have prescribed a appetite stimulant.

Pepcid AC and Slippery Elm Bark are basically the same thing as Reglan.

if i may hijack...the cat that has lived on my porch for 8 years is getting old and likely will die soon. he's lost 2 teeth.
he is in pain which is clear because he is drooling a lot and can only eat soft food.
i'd like to ease his pain without using a bullet, yet.
vet bills are a bitch.
anyone know of a good antibiotic and pain reliever?

For natural pain and inflammation relief Vitamin D3 combined with Omega-3 fish oil are two of the most potent anti inflammatory agents known. Tumeric also works.

This.

Give it a few days and time to work. And offer a small smorgasbord of food to tempt him. Pet value has trial size bags for 99 cents in my area or even offer human food. Some boiled chicken or even treats in lieu of food.

And moms organic or whole foods has slippery elm bark in bulk. Cheap for very small amounts.

Re: Help My Cat Is Sick
Prayers to you OP. My wife has turned me into a crazy cat person over the years and these little furballs (as much assholes as they can be) tug on my heart strings.

Wish I could lend some advice...but most of the problems I have experience in is hypo or hyper thyroid disease...what you are describing doesn't really sound like that.

We did have a kitty that would puke a lot and it was due to kidney failure...not sure if that correlates to what you have described...I would say not because your cat is only 11. Our cat who had those problems was much older...17 or so. I cried more than I have since I was a toddler the day we had to put her down.

Some good advice in this thread...a little bad. I do know you sure as hell never want to give a cat dairy products. Never give a cat milk...not good for them.

Last but not least folks, if you care for your animals FEED THEM GRAIN FREE FOOD! Don't buy the cheap shit full of wheat or gluten or whatever cheap filler that stuff has. We buy the majority of our cat food at PetSmart....it's a chain store but pretty sure they have all healthy options. If you are buying food for your animals at Walmart it'll without doubt drop the lifespan of the buddy you love dearly.

Good luck OP...my thoughts and heart are with you, especially being a cat person.

Re: Help My Cat Is Sick
I'm looking for any kind theories on what might be wrong with him.

I have taken him to the vet twice in the last week. The vet says he isn't running a fever, teeth look good, blood tests are normal, and his x-ray looked ok. The vet wasn't sure what one spot on the x-ray might be. She said possibly stools. He is a big cat though and her feeling around with her hands she couldn't feel anything odd.

I have cleaned his food & water bowl and his litter box. He is drinking ok and he seems interested in food but everytime he eats he throws up. He even throws up when he hasn't eaten.

I did catch him eating on my coneflower but he has done that in the past. As far as Google it doesn't seem to be a poisonous plant but now I have it put up.

Next is an ultrasound for him. However i'm really low on money and not sure how much further I can go. I really don't want to put him down because he was fine a couple weeks ago.

My cat nearly died during that episode with china poisoning pet food and after I brought him home from a week at the vet he was so weak he almost died. I got very good advice from this forum that helped my cat recover. Perhaps you will find something there that can be beneficial for you and your kitty.

Re: Help My Cat Is Sick
We just had a $1000 emergency vet bill when our poodle mix suddenly started puking & passing bloody stool. We won a $150 gift basket from our local organic pet store and had changed her diet by adding in the high quality food from that. (She'd had it before but it's not her regular). The change in diet just irritated her horribly. Woke up to her puking after 7am on Sunday morn- at the emergency vet before 10am & she was already severely dehydrated had to spend the day & night on IV. They released her Monday morn to our vet telling us he'd definitely keep her another day; he gave injected fluid under the skin & a different antibiotic (cheaper) only charged us for a follow up visit and sent her home but called us three times to check her progress. :). I can now recognize the emergency vets Maserati when I see it in town.

Our local humane society is really great about providing low cost care. My vet doesn't accept Care Credit, but you can submit to them for reimbursement after paying upfront.
