Quoting: R. Wordsworth So by comparison, this thing is slow as fuck. Fake news about hypersonic wunderweapons pops up about once per quarter, it's all bullshit. No nation on Earth has an effective defense against a full-on nuclear first strike. If ICBMS fired in large quantities , most will get through. A single one can destroy a dozen cities... and this has been true for decades. Submarines can sneak up off a nation's coast and fire depressed trajectory missiles that will strike in a matter of 3-4 minutes, before NORAD would even have a chance to spit out their coffee. And once again, that was the case since the late 60's. Yep. There are several countries that could annihilate one another, including us. Very scary times indeed. I trust our technology and military. I sleep well at night. Plus I know "they" won't allow nukes to fly. Will we even know we were alive when we're dead? Me Kingdoms were run by kings Empires were run by Emperors Countries are run by..... Dumps were almost fixed by Trump |

So according to the article, it reached the speed of Mach 6 and the whole thing was recovered.... Apparently they have been testing this type of rocket for awhile now.... Anyone have any thoughts on this? Intelligent ones, please... So like Elon Musk's or Jeff Bezos's reusable rocket technology? If so, I have to give them credit, this is clever. Have the main vehicle go super fast to get behind the defenses, then fire possibly slower warheads on to the defenseless target, then book it out of there and recover the main vehicle. That looks like a rocket. (Much easier to hit super high speeds with a rocket.) How do they store enough fuel in it to do the whole mission and land safely at the recovery point? Now we know something that we have to develop. I hope we can steal back some of their tech. to save ourselves time, they've been stealing plenty from us. |

It occurs to me that having a lot of fuel in this kind of rocket is not as difficult as using a lot of fuel to get to orbit while paying the weight penalty for lifting the fuel. This rocket doesn't have to fly very high, so it doesn't have to LIFT the fuel, and once the rocket is flying fast, it isn't accelerating the fuel at all, just using it to overcome air drag. Does air drag go down or not increase as fast at high mach numbers? If so, I think I am starting to understand this innovation. |

Which means, that a country doesn't have to go "all in" for WW3, but can use them in a conventional war. Such as knocking off aircraft carriers, or command/control centers. |
