Quoting: LTHN. Lousy feeling though you described, just lying in bed, the body is tired, but the mind is active. Sometimes, I find lying on my back, and taking slow deep breaths and exhalations can quiet the mind and bring that much needed sleep. I've tried doing guided sleep meditations in bed and those don't work anymore. My mind's stubborn. One thing I have tried that works, and it's all natural, is taking potato starch with water before bed. You can read about this on the net, it really works, and your sleep will be very deep, as well your dreams will be quite vivid.
