Unwanted Dogs Dumped in Iowa Forest

I Loathe people who Dump their Dogs or Cats :(:(:(

MAMA…How could You Dump Duke and Sasha into that far away Forest without any Remorse??

Why not just eat them?

It is disgusting - no excuse for it at all. There is almost always someone who will take them in.

I have a dog we rescued - The scumbag owner took the dog to the groomer that we use and left him there with a fake name and phone number to abandon him. Went to pick up my dog and the groomer told me this story and that she had no choice but send him to the pound as she could not keep him so I took him to a great home. Groomer said it happens as the shelter/pound charge money to take in dogs from people.

The local shelters here are full. If you want to drop off a pet at a shelter here, you have to make an appointment. Problem is, there are so many in the shelters they will not even give you an appointment. I called for a disabled friend, an amputee, who was losing his home, and the shelter said to call back in 3 weeks to see if they had any openings at that time.He had 10 days to move.

This makes no sense. Shelters are everywhere why don't they just take them there?

Or give to someone that wants a pet?

my dog was dumped as a puppy in Northern Minnesota. They estimated she had lived on her own 4-8 months in the northwoods. Lucky she was a siberan husky... She is the most loyal and loving dog.... But still suffers from serious abandonment issues after 10 years..... People are so cruel!!

Dumping dogs, but people disappearing at an alarming rate. Go figure

My family rescued a 3 year old chocolate lab when the owner abandoned it and I get the honor of shelling out 1000 dollars in vet bills just to get Her treated. I wish the government would treat pets like children and force people to pay for their upkeep if they could no longer house them.

Yep. My only gripe is that the dumpers didn't have the decency to put a bullet in their skulls instead of just abandoning them.

i thought they couldn't use the "D" word.

I really hate people who are mean to animals.

Lost my almost 14 year old lab/Aussie mix in mid July. My heart still hurts over losing Ranger-Danger. It was just old age, his hips gave out and he quit eating. I have to go pick up his ashes tomorrow. He was a rescue.

I'm on the board of directors at a rural no. Cali golf course, we always get dumped animals on the property. we try to place dogs through Facebook and Twitter, often with success. we feed cats and kittens, yet with the number of coyotes around the course they don't live long.
amazingly so sad.

If they form a pack it can get so bad that they will have to get military sharpshooters in to take them out.

Scumbags! Sormetimes I really hate people.

Good thing they did not drop em' off in China, they eat dogs there.

Taking them to a shelter is certain death unless they get adopted which is what % btw?

I am so sorry ! I lost my Sheba in June.

My heart breaks for these dogs, they have no choice but their lives become a hell all for what? because of people.


Dogs are some of the most beautiful people I know.

It is very sad. I don't understand people who do this. We always adopt from shelters. Pets are part of our family.

I partially blame Veterinarians for part of this crisis, every time I take my dog to the vet, it's $250 minimum. It actually costs me less to see my Primary care Dr, than a trip to the Vet.

It really hurts. Sheba and Ranger-Danger are likely playing in heaven right now, with a unending supply of yummy doggie treats.

tiger1 and Lady Jane, I'm so sorry for both of you. I have had many dogs throughout my life and I loved them all so much. I have this idea that when I pass, I will be reunited with all of my loved pets. The thought of that brings peace to my mind, maybe it will help you through your pain.

One day we will be with our fur babies again, and never be separated. Even though I adopted my new fur baby Jewel from the shelter, I still cry over my Sheba.
My beloved Sheba is the smaller white and brown dog on the left pic, and Jewel, who I rescued from a shelter after Sheba died,is the cute Fox Terrier in the right pic.

I'm sorry. It's terrible when a pet passes. It helps to think of all the good memories you had with them.

Reading this makes me think of my dog that passed 15 years ago now. I still miss him. I've had dogs since, but not like him. He was a rescue and he had some health issues. We spent thousands in vet bills for him, back in the 90's. He was worth every penny!

I went into a financial hole for my Sheba, too.I would do it all over again for her. For 15 years she was my beloved companion, a sweet and loving fur baby.I did the best I could for her.
