The hurricane probably won't directly hit any of the islands. It looks like it will slip to the southwest. Just alot of rain. Doom completely off.

The hurricane won't hit Oahu (where Waikiki is) until Thursday afternoon/night.

The tracking on one of the local news stations shows that as of now, they'll get some tropical force winds (up to about 55 mph) and no doubt some heavy rain, which will probably cause some flooding. Surf will be high, but only idiots would go down to the beach (and there's always at least one idiot that will try to go).

I have family there, so I don't want them to get hit or hit too badly, but so far, it looks like it will be more of a tropical storm sort of thing. The really high hurricane winds so far are predicted to remain south of all of the islands.

I just spoke to family there within the last few hours, they got water and food stored. They went to the store yesterday, they said it was quite busy with people stocking up, they said people seemed to take preparing seriously. But hopefully it will turn out that everyone is now overprepared (better than underprepared). Also, some people were let off work today and schools were already closed, so people have had time to get ready at least.
