Bear in Stanley hotel at Estes Park Colorado

Two weeks from today I will be camping 5 miles from that Stanley hotel for a week....here is the 1st spot I have reserved... bear box on site included in the price....lol:

I stayed at this site before and it is a hundred yards over a hill and away from most all the other camp sites....at 3:00 in the morning I hear this blood curdling screaming going on..my heart pounding a mile a minute as I'm listening I hear more than one scream and finally figure out it was elk rutting season and it is the sound the elk make in the middle of the night but the sound really carries...lol

My son and I camped at the Grays Peak trailhead a few weeks back for free. Beautiful location, toilets, no other services. Road is horrendous tho.

Well, what if 26 bucks don't show up at night?

I keep trying to do longs peak but it takes someone like me 12 to 14 hours to hike and there’s that whole starting at 2:00 a.m to get to the top before the storms start....and I hear 2 people a year die trying to do the hike...last time I checked those 2 people haven’t happened yet this year so there is that deterent also....I have made it to boulder fields though and have seen the keyhole...lol

have you tried any of the other 50+ 14ers?
