This is just ridiculous...

“Classic games in the state of Alabama are under siege by its education department who published online (and then quickly took it down) of its hardline approach to recess and P.E. class past times such as Duck, Duck Goose, Tag, and Simon Says because they play favorites and lead to less athletic kids to become scarred from embarrassment.”

Well, I didn't like physical games, but talking about getting scarred is just insane.

This is just the kind of typical nonsense that parents these days have to put up with. You're told to be your kids' best friend and not to resort to your authority as a parent. You're supposed to shelter your kids from all disappointments. Punishing the kid is a huge no. I've been told that it's borderline abuse to have even sit-downs or time-outs.

Thankfully I'm an old parent. Too old to give a shit about the fearmongering and guilt-tripping the so called child experts like to apply to you. I got my first kid at 45. Similarly, I will not abdicate my role as the authority figure who ultimately decides what my kid can and can't do. That's what's changed today. As a parent you're not supposed to exert any kind of control or authority over your kid.

Yeah, that's bad mmkay. Soy makes weak bones & the ones who, fortunately, don't suffer from toxic masculinity are unable to throw with enough force to reach the target, so it's bad, mmkay, they aren't as fast as those nasty masculine males & are at a disadvantage, mmkay, then they have to worry about breaking bones.... Re: The pussification of America continues... tag and musical chairs “inappropriate”
You know I could see if they said they wanted to promote more active activities during PE, or something to that effect, still may not agree with that, but it would man a little more sense. Banning the harmless activities for fear of mentally harming a child is just dumb. I'm starting to not blame the millennial problem on millennials anymore. It's societies fault. We have failed to prepare out children for the harsh realities of life. We have raised them inside such a protective cocoon that when they emerge they are completely unprepared to handle life. When presented with life's problems they lash out at anyone and anything they can. It seems to me that at times they are so unaware of what is happening around them that they have to be told what to lash out at. We need to put an end to this. We do have a say in these things. Find out when your local town halls are and attend them. Go to school board meetings and make your feelings known. Put your children in private schools, I certainly couldn't have my child be educated in a public school. My boss moved to a different state because her didn't want his youngest daughter in any of the horrid local high schools. If you are raising a child at the moment you have a responsibility as a parent to raise them in a way that prepares them for a world that will chew them up and spit them out, if they aren't ready for it. We can do better than this.

If they changed it to musical laps it would probably be on the curriculum lol, they started to reign in games in the late 70's tbf. British Bulldog 123 was banned in our school eventually as it became a 100+ person game lol, i think they even ban conkers nowdays.

It is shameful that this nonsense came from Alabama, but the state's superintendent has already addressed it. The study was from years ago, just resurfaced for some reason, and he made a statement, yesterday, that as long as he is superintendent, local school boards will decide what games their children play in gym class.

Smear the Queer, at least here, was a backyard game, not a recess class game. Did you play it at school?

We used to play a variation of dodgeball they called "Bombardment" where the whole gym class split into two teams and there were at least a hundred balls involved. It was chaos, but it was AWESOME.

We played it at school too. I can't remember the teacher/coach specifically calling it by that name, but it wouldn't have been a problem if they did. I don't know any other name for that particular game, so I kind of assume they did say it.

Depending on where you're from, I guess it wouldn't surprise me. Seems like you would need lots of games going on at a time to play STQ in gym class, though. Otherwise, with the odds being something like 50:1 or 100:1, the Queer would be smeared immediately upon getting the ball every time it changed hands. To have a fun game of STQ, the Queer has to at least have a chance to avoid smearing for a little while.

Sacrifice your friends and families for Greater Israel.

So eager to play, so reluctant to admit it.

2 Corinthians 11:12-15 12 And I will keep on doing what I am doing in order to cut the ground from under those who want an opportunity to be considered equal with us in the things they boast about. 13 For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 15 It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.

Well, I didn't like physical games, but talking about getting scarred is just insane.

They beat me in physical games, I ruled in mental games (in and out of the class). Fair enough.

I am way more lenient than what my dad was. Unusually for the time, he never beat/spanked us kids, but he applied more intelligent punishments, instead. He denied us of the things we wanted the most and it worked. No amount of crying, shouting or stomping would change his mind when he made it up. He looked at us rage and when we were exhausted, he asked us calmly to drive the point home: "Ok, was it worth it to (lose a trip to the amusement park, your favorite toy,...)? Next time you know better not to do it.".

Similarly, I will not abdicate my role as the authority figure who ultimately decides what my kid can and can't do. That's what's changed today. As a parent you're not supposed to exert any kind of control or authority over your kid.

That's how you raise self-entitled assholes who can't deal with disappointments.
 Quoting: Tainted Meat

This is going to sound crazy--but I wonder if there is a link between this over-babying kids and all the recent challenges that are just plain horrible . (hot water challenge, fire challenge, etc)

Could it be that when we don't let kids have normal pain in healthy ways (like getting punished for bad behavior or losing at a game) that they crave that knowledge in an unhealthy way?

Do we human need the experience of normal types of pain and when we don't experience it, we look for ways to have it. Then, when we look for ways to experience it, we go overboard since we don't know our own limits since we never experienced the regular types?

Okay, I know this sound ridiculous and I know there have always been challenges (swallowing goldfish, etc) but the recent challenges seem to take this idea to a whole different and perverted level.
