Of course, the real monetary value of the thousand bucks is about $18 based on the $20 historic price of gold one ounce coin... $18 seems about right; but who really uses the computing power the advanced phones offer? Too bad there's not any real research into integration of the portable handset with other devices. All the platforms are about optimizing the shake-down of the consumer; get that last nickel outa their pocket. Something like the old Bag Phone to carry and interface with everything wherever you are, with tethers to other devices. The laptop remains The Great Portable Unit, but why not allow it to interface with everything? As it is, cell phones are marvel of miniaturization, but are like texting would be on a Dick Tracy watch, too tiny to function without 100% plus of your attention, almost all the time. $40 is about right for an android phone. Buffet has fucked America for so long and for so much, he has no idea that about 80% of the population can't even raise $1000 cash for an emergency. Of the 20% that might-could, those with brains won't spend it on a phone. A $1000 bargain is just going to sit on the shelf if nobody has the money to buy it... |
