My electric bread thingie takes for ever.

I was rolled in breadcrumbs on my VERY LARGE boat once.

use the bread thingy to prep dough.

then crock it.

It takes even longer when you do it by hand and have a big mess to clean up.

... we have one of the first bread makers so it takes 3 hours ... the newer ones I guess make bread in a shorter time? ...

... and we make a one-pound load so maybe smaller loaves go quicker ...

I pre soak the grains the night before, make the bread, need it a lot, good for breast uplift, and let it rest for many hrs, need it some more, let it rest some more. Be sure to cool the loaves after baking out side in the cold for a crisper crust and keep the animals from eating it.

used bread making thingies in good shape are filled on the shelves of thrift stores..... I wonder why?!

I don't think so. Yeast take time to do their thing and you have to let it rise twice.

I bought my wife one last Christmas, yes it takes awhile but WOW OH WOW that bread is AWESOME & worth the wait! Pumpernickel is my favorite!

I bought one of those and it works great! Dump stuff in set and forget.
