I've learned how to celebrate Samhain today
I've learned a lot today browsing around on Samhain.

The first thing I've learned is it's not pronounced Samhain, but rather Soween. They want to make certain you pronounce it Soween, because Samhain is just not acceptable, I suppose, within that community.

Also, if you're skinny, you're going to need to gain some weight and get a bit on the chunky side. Because, honestly, we want our witches fat, don't we? I don't know why; that's just the rules.

Furthermore, you'll need quite a bit of some sort of Egyptian bric-a-brac. You know how much Celtic months had to do with Egypt, so it makes sense. Besides, if it doesn't look like you're smart and can read hieroglyphics, what use are you anyway?

Next, you'll need to create rap songs about 3 fold something or other. And then go off on some excursus about lords and ladies, gods and goddesses.

And there you have it. Samhain, but you now know it to be Soween, because it just is. And there's Halloween for you in all its glory.

P.S. Oh, and curtains. Don't forget curtains. That's mystical.

Oh, and don't forget to say stuff like, 'The Veil is thin during Meat Harvest', because that makes you sound like you've crossed over to the other side. I don't know what other side you've over to, but saying nebulous stuff like that is celebrated on Soween, and it's probably Egyptian somehow.

And you shouldn't be named "Bernard".

If you are, make sure they don't shorten it.

No nicknames for Bernard.

Joe, the witch. Mary, the witch. et cetera

No nicks for Bernard.

They are funny that way.

She knows exactly what gods and goddesses you can adore on Soween. I don't know how she knows that, but apparently they have spoken to her.

You can dress up like a crone goddess (or just any old bag lady on the street), and you can dress up like Osiris, Odin, or some other underworldly apparition of some sort.

And bam...instant witch.

Celts did have some interaction with Persia, OP.

You can see the influence in early Celtic art.

See you, OP.

Wouldn't want to be you.

Exit; ducking-all-the-way, stage right.

Oh, yeah. I'm sure the Druids went to Persia to discuss the latest syncretic technologies nearly every weekend.

Also, don't forget to say 'Blessed be'. But when you say it, say with a bit of a smug tone in your voice like you know something other people don't. Because that gives you that little bit extra witch oomph. And that's really what's important.

Is it just me, or is it somehow requisite for every self-appointed witch goddess coven priestess chiefess queen person to have the most shrill, annoying voice for public speaking imaginable?

If I were in her coven, I would ask her if she could please sacrifice me just so I could be rid of her twangy, asinine shrill.

Re: I've learned how to celebrate Samhain today
as a practitioner myself, i follow the solitary practices in the celtic pantheon which means that typically i dont have egyptian symbols on my altar. i consider myself and ecclectic witch so i am not bound exclusively to the celtic pantheon its just the one i am the most familiar with. Samhain or soween is similar to the way the Mexicans celebrate the dia de los Muertos ( day of the dead) its the day when the veil between worlds is thinnest and the spirits of the dead return to earth. its also the day of the year that we honor those that came before us. make no mistake when dealing with spirits, there are benevolent and malevolent spirits just as there are good and bad people out there. i would not dabble where one is not certain of what they are doing or are not aware of potential consequences.

Wow. That is amazing. You just crammed in more stereotypical buzz words in one paragraph than I think I have ever seen.

I'll have to document this. This may be the most utterly typical thing I have ever seen. This is more typical than a lesbian Methodist minister.

Let me see if I can get this:

As a practitioner of the craft, I follow the non-patriarchical pantheon of XYZ, am vegan, save dolphins, honor the goddess, post avatars of fallen angels with their hands tied behind their backs, and use words like 'altar' and 'malevolent'. Blessed be, so mote be it, merry meat. Veil is thin at meat harvest, ancestors. Aum. Namaste. Ni hao.

Re: I've learned how to celebrate Samhain today
You'll have to excuse this thread. It's just that I honestly find left-brained people curious. I cannot imagine what it is like to be that programmed, or that conformist.

The left-brainers are our perfect social robots. They cross every T and dot every I. They are always in the know of the latest mass absurdity and flaky trend. These people have all the depth of rice paper and can rattle off any nugatory bit of social minutia going on at any given moment. They are astonishingly uncreative, and have not the slightest originality.

These people are truly bizarre to me as I am left handed and nearly completely right brained. Their stereotypical shallow existence is shocking to me. Not only are they not fringe or alt, they are the epitome of status quo norm. These same people would have been your church bench warmers 50 years ago. Now they're your pagan bench warmers.

This woman in the video will never know how comedic she is to me. And that she takes herself seriously makes it all the more hilarious.

Buzz words, bric-a-brac, and blessed bes. Programmed, brainwashed socket puppet monkey see monkey do. Useless hot air blown from wind bags.

Is that all it's ever going to be from now on? Is that it? Is that really as deep as woman has the ability to go?

Because if it is, if that's all there is left, then this society needs to go. And I don't feel bad about speeding along that process.

Re: I've learned how to celebrate Samhain today
Women complain today that men don't respect them and treat them like shallow sex objects. But did it ever occur to them that there isn't anything left to respect in them because whatever jewels they had they long ago exchanged for pop witchtardism, web cam whoredom, and the most pseudo-intellectual front of ill-learned quack in the history of mankind?

You're going to have to throw me a bone here. I mean, you're really going to have to throw me something good to salvage this age, because I'm not seeing anything but delusional gone to seed in the name of wisdom falsely so called.

Oh, yes, the sacrifices that neo-pagans say never happened. Actually, they all happened.

But you don't have to worry about these tards. I'd be more worried that they would accidentally slit their own wrist with their dagger while chopping garlic, or whatever they do.

Who needs a dagger anyway unless you're going to kill something? Back in the old days of criminally insane witches, they actually used to use the dagger to kill things.

But these witches today try to make the utterly vile and demonic squeaky clean and yuppified.

Can this society exist anymore with multiplied millions of these lunatics running around? They nearly destroyed the nation by sheer force of whining when their goddess Hillary wasn't election. There's no telling what these demonic ignoramuses will do. They've already wrecked the nation. I'm just waiting for the whole dung heap to explode.

I there ANYTHING a woman will not believe except the Truth! That is my one question to the universe.

It has been noted that witches of Babylon relish their Halloween as they relish the ability to abort unborn children.

I can think of a few ways to celebrate Halloween with a sense of poetic Justice. Yes, let's do celebrate Samhain.
