The triglyceride fats that are stored in your fat cells will be used by the body for various purposes, so don’t worry about it remaining there. Just low fat everything, keep active, and the weight will drop off you. |

Nope. What happens is, you lose a shitload of water weight and become dehydrated. Second, your body begins to cannibalise it’s own tissues - including vital organs. Thirdly, you start developing terrible inflammatory issues due to keyoacidisis. Fourthly, because your body is in such oxygen debt due to low carbs, you look pale all the time. These people on this nonsense think they’re onto something special but, like I did, they fell for this nonsense. Oh and another word of warning, my head was constantly pounding from prolonged ketosis because my brain tissue was being cannibalised. As a result I started to develop a terrible stutter. This imo was a mild form of brain damage, but, thankfully, it went away when I began eating carbs again. I’d also mention, you go into ketosis, your body will struggle to produce insulin when you go back on carbs, and you can develop diabetes. Your immune system becomes seriously depressed when you are in ketosis, and you become prone to serious illnesses, which first starts with the ketosis flu, as it’s called, and what I experienced often. Don’t buy into the hype, it’s horseshit. |

One of my favorite recipes is Stuffed Jalapeno popper chicken. It's easy to make and so delicious and filling! Here's a link to it! When we go on vacation, it can be hard, as restaurants don't always have the best options -- after a few days of falling into a bad diet, we all start to feel sluggish and yucky. I do not believe one size fits all for diets. I feel a person must experiment with different eating styles to see what works best for their body. She's lost over 35 pounds and I've lost probably 20. We've stuck with it because neither one of us ever feel like we're starving to death. For example, we'll meet up and play tennis. Typically we might play an hour and a half (slow paced friendly tennis) and then we'd be discussing food and how hungry we were. After keto, 4 hours into being on the tennis court we're looking around going it's getting late, we should go, ummmm, I'm not really hungry but before I go home I'd like to get a bite to eat. As far as cheating, Reddi Whip- which is VERY low in sugar with cocoa mixed in has been a go to for us. Both of us have our fridge stocked with cheese. Her small town has a burger place with keto buns so that's nice. "Moon cheese" has been a wonderful snack food. There's so may forums out there that discuss keto friendly foods it makes it easy to find them. My only going off Keto was when my figs got ripe and my local peaches. Keto cheesecake is wonderful also! Both of us agree it's the most easy diet we've ever done. Also, it's the longest either one of us have ever stuck with a diet. |

But the regimen is unsustainable. Nobody stays on keto forever. Hell, good luck making it two weeks. Quoting: SoberLife If you get ill enough you might find the willpower. Just like quitting drinking / drugs. Which you've apparently done? The real key is to stop eating for pleasure and start eating for survival. Whole foods plant based, no wheat, no dairy, no sugar, no HFCS, no deep fried, no artificial colors, sweeteners etc. Yes, I used to inject meth and opiates. I've been sober for six years... But this sugar is something else! I'll tell you first hand with experience that quitting a 10 year drug addiction was easier than quitting unhealthy eating habits. The reason is that I can completely stop talking drugs and drinking, but I cannot abstain from foods. |

Yup, your brain especially needs carbs, as ketone bodies aren’t enough to fuel it, hence why I started developing a speech impediment + other nasty side effects from prolonged ketosis. Yes, your body will break down triglycerides to a degree, but it will cannibalise its own tissues overwhelmingly so, and you’ll just become skinny fat. Most of the weight lost is just tissue and water. Oh, and while in ketosis my hair thinned like no mans business. I’m lucky it’s starting to thicken up again since returning to healthy eating. |

Oh and something else: ketoacidosis causes calcium loss from bones including teeth because your body starts leeching calcium to help it neutralise your heavily acidic blood because cells cannot survive in a highly acidic environment. So, not only do your cells start to dysfunction but your bones become brittle, and tooth enamel starts breaking away from teeth. |

User ID: 77427246 Canada 06/05/2019 11:51 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | i did it, lost 75lbs. the swelling of my feet stopped. i had psoriasis, supposedly incurable, and that stopped for 2 1/2 years now. Quoting: Brubaker it's much stronger than Atkins. i did gain some of the weight back as i'm not religious about it anymore. the trick to this is to just eat, and then leave the kitchen, and preferably the house. don't think about what you miss. there's enough fat in that diet that it should control your hunger pangs. good luck! Much stronger than Atkins, how so? Dr. Atkins tested his "diet" for decades on thousands of patients. He did tons of research and documentation. As far as i see op keto diet is a rip off of Atkins diet, just more lenient. I know Atkins works fast if you follow it. Its all about prep Before you even start you must plan or you will fail. I dropped 50lbs. On Atkins diet in 4 months. I suggest getting a book on the subject first. Most gain it back after losing, the same with various carb diets. Keto is more of a lifestyle health food switch than a diet. Too much meat/protein as the Atkins promotes, also causes insulin spikes. With Keto you are controlling insulin. That is the number one thing about keto, its about keeping blood sugar down. Which means you eliminate carbs. Depending on how much weight you have to lose. For ex. if your weight is ok, but you have health conditions that are pre diabetic anyway, eliminating the carbs is still important. But in that situation you could have 1 day a week to have your pasta meal or potatoes or something you don't want to give up for a lifetime, and then spend the rest of the week recovering. If you have a serious condition, that cheat day may not be a good idea, if you have diabetes for example and keep eating potatoes, for ex, you may have a heart attack sooner or later and should monitor your blood sugar after you consume those starches. The insulin index and glycemic index for white bread, white rice and potatoes, is very high. For whole wheat bread or rice, its just 1 point lower. These are not healthy foods. Too much protein as in atkins is also a insulin creator. As for fat, it holds your hunger over, your brain and neurology and body run on fats, it trains your body to derive its energy from fats including your stored fat, AND it is insulin neutral. So Keto is about limiting your insulin production, and its combined with Intermittent Fasting. Which I was shocked to learn, is what I do because of all my health problems anyway. Eating starches, such as potatoes which I do love, or now, avoiding starches, still always preferred to eat 10-11 am, to about 230-300 pm, and to be slightly hungry at night. Then I could lose a pound, or stay the same, have many health issues. So my Intermittent Fasting is is kind of a 19 5, between 10-3. 1-2 meals is common in that time and no snacking, but you can have some butter in coffee or tea or cream or half and half. I do 2 meals with fruit in that period. Lots of greens. And not kale shakes for me. Very tough can't chew, teeth need work. Salads, mustard greens, spinach, parsley, and lots of other vegetables. Except the real starchy like corn. Thats more for that occasional lifestyle cheat day if needed. That cheat day should be in moderation the amounts and timing as well. And not promoting a cheat day, it just works for me, and mine is currently once day in 14, not 7. You lose weight, and you eat healthier. There are still things one must look after, not just symptoms, ie gallbladder, liver, bile production, andrenals and cortisol. B1 deficiency. A host of other components to monitor to do this well because the symptoms of all these things are similar and pre diabetic. Which means its not just a fad diet, its a lifestyle change for health. Its about getting healthier. And I adapted very naturally to it, with the exception of potatoes, and a few baked goods, but I have my own adaptions: stevia, which we're going to grow this year, organic raw honey, small amounts. Has a medium insulin and glycemic index, and feel good with a tiny amount in my coffee and if I bake anything blend stevia and honey. The honey is considered non keto, but my health is much better. Just low amounts. And one day where the lovely red skin potatoes we grow get eaten in small amounts. But grains can be swapped around. Almond flour is a life saver, so is chia seeds, flaxmeal, quinoa, etc. You can whip up cheesy tortillas and pancakes and breads. In moderation because with sluggage systems this can also slow down weight loss, but it can keep your system going and your lifestyle change, rather than diet, going.
