Probably both, but since you said they don't use salt on the roads, I would opt for summer. The sun has been bleaching a lot of things, at least here in the south. It seems like the paint either gets bleached out or bubbles up and peels right off.

I use "Zymol" on the Harley. Bikes are no problem, as all you gotta wax is the tank, fenders and oil/battery covers.

Cars and trucks are a pain in the ass. This one's paint & clearcoat is still good. But it rained today, didn't bead, and figured it was time.

Maybe if it's not raining next weekend. If my daughter sees me waxing my car, she's gonna pull right next to mine and want hers done too. Uh oh.

True story. My best friend is a chemist with PPG paints, automotive division. He says waxing clearcloat paints is a total waste of time.

I suggest spend some time searching the net as lots of Synthetic polish on the market now that will out perform old school wax.

I have never found a wax that will last at most a few moths if the car lives outside.

At a minimum I would polish both spring and fall. New high tech polish is much easer than the old school stuff from years back and if you apply it often or before the car needs it... its almost wipe on wipe off.

Always wax in the cool of the morning or evening. Not in the sun. If the vehicle is warm the wax will dry too fast and look streaky.
Cool overcast day is good, too.

Don't know i drop car off for full works while I shop.

I just paid my truck off (YAY me) so I decided to do some major detail, I've always used Meguires after washing but this time noticed it needed a little more in a few spots so I bought some colored wax and WOW took those swirly spots right out (one of them pretty bad where I accidently hit it with chrome polish oops) Anyway, now that the truck is 4 I plan to wax twice a year, meguires other times

All I use is Nu Finish on the cars. I detail my motorcycle with Pledge. Clearcoat will deteriorate and start to peel eventually if it isn't protected.

Try waxing it right after you wash, rinse and dry it.

I'm over 45

i remember waxing once a month or the hood would look like crap by year two

i haven't waxed my car in 6 years

nobody does, and they all look good

thank advances in clear coat and polymer paint

also blame those same things for 80% of cars being black or white or silver, since they're now half plastic the plastic companies don't do consistent colors like red, yelloww or blue very well

i just didn't want it to look like crap, it now doesn't without waxing, but it doesn't look new either


80% of you should be happy without waxing, if you want showroom you need to wax
