If it was just me, I'd prefer OKC. Last Edited by Bennder on 09/29/2018 09:41 PM I don't have the time or the crayons to explain this to you. Slake Blake |

Probably more danger in OKC than Dallas, but it's not like they have them everyday or hit everywhere. I don't have the time or the crayons to explain this to you. Slake Blake |

And when you consider that Fort Worth is is simply one small part of one of the largest, fastest growing, prosperous metropolitan areas in the country, there really is no comparison whatsoever. |

I lived in Flower Mound, TX back in '00 and it was amazing. The DFW area has lots of money, people, and places. Always something to do. I think I stayed in OK a few years ago. College town i think... People seemed nice. That's all I got bud. Glad to have you back in the good il'USofA |

Quoting: ladulce We're considering either Oklahoma City or Fort Worth. We have never been to either, but, obviously will visit both extensively before making a decision. I just hoped that with the vast experiences and knowledge on this site, perhaps someone could enlighten me. It appears that Fort Worth wins in schools, but also has far higher taxes (we will most likely buy a home). We really want to be somewhere family friendly, that is walkable, has entertainment, a long growing season, and is family friendly (I also have 2 college daughters who will visit and a newly 3 year old). We really want to be in a bigger city. We like being out and about as much as possible. Any input is greatly appreciated. I live in Dallas, have since 1970 and the thing with Fort Worth that makes it so great is that it has maintained the feel of Fort Worth over the years. While Dallas has become a concrete jungle and World city Fort Worth is just Fort Worth...I love the place! Don't know anything about the schools, taxes, etc. but I know housing but I know real estate prices are lower much lower there than Dallas. I don't know much about Oklahoma to help you with a contrast of the two, just know if my situation would allow, I would move to Fort Worth in a heartbeat. If you want opportunities education for your kids networking that will get them on their way probably Fort Worth is better, just because it’s a bigger city. But I fell in love with OKC and its people. |

Native DFW Texan who now lives in AR here...I say Fort Worth, it is so full of charm while having so much culture and great shopping, it has everything for a family in my OP. I prefer Arkansas my self but FW would be a great area if I did go back home. |

If you're looking for better schools don't come to okc. However, we did just rebel and vote for a bunch of teachers who ran for office so it could get real interesting soon Plus it's legal to smoke pot here. Goodbye, halcyon days... User ID: 76678804 Russia 09/30/2018 05:58 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If you want more city life, Fort Worth. I also find more developed cities to have more opportunities overall, which can make things easier. Anywhere that doesn't have income taxes has to make up that revenue elsewhere -- meaning, property taxes and such. They get you one way or the other. But there are sites where you can compare costs of living, because things can be a bit deceptive at first glance. Somewhere might be cheaper, but your salary might likely be lower. Taxes might be higher in one area, but you make up for it in another area, etc. So I wouldn't go by higher property taxes alone. DFW is also a hub for American Airlines of course, which makes it easier than other places to get where you're going, if you travel often enough. It's nice to live in a city where you don't always have to do connecting flights just to get out of the state. |
