Here in the real world, Kids don't help their parents, they just wait for them to die then come get their stuff. Or not, there are houses and trailers full of crap mouldering all over the place.

I'm sure they are helping, as well as the rest of his family. If you've ever been saddled with unexpected medical bills coupled with a reduced ability to work, you realize how difficult it can be to get out of that cycle. Remember how many threads we have seen about reports that most people don't have even $1,000 tucked away for emergencies. Even if every member of one's family has five times that - it gets eaten up in no time with an unexpected medical or even legal headache. Just help if you can and if you don't want to, please leave it at that rather than question whether his family is doing enough.

I've sorted my stuff out for donating but you are correct. I got paid fwd a years free account under an older moniker because I asked for it. That was years ago. GLP is a very loving and caring community and it is good to know it still is. Cheers and prayers for all involved.

Definitely don't have a safety net, and was forced into a very bad situation that was indeed that kind of "scary". It really spurred me to swallow my pride and do what I had to. Not sure how long I'll keep it going, as long as it takes to reach my goal at the very least tho being that my situation will be on-going until my benefits are reinstated and my SSI/SSDI gets approved. I have no doubt it will, it just takes a very long time.

Sorry to hear things are tough for you as well, when I'm better off I'll be barking at you to let me help you!

I'm honored to say that my sons are fabulous young men, and have been here for me as much as they can. I'm actually staying with one of them at the moment, but he has his life to live and we all know how hard it is being on your own as a young person these days. I can't put the burden of taking care of me on him, it's far too much to bear and he just can't afford it. That's a big part of the reason I decided to start the GFM campaign.
