The tip-off is the heavy accent and the low volume of their voice. Then you know you're speaking to someone in Mumbai. As soon as the they say, "I understand your concern" in an accent I know I'm fucked and hang up and call again. Or the "I'll help you with this one." It's always "this one" as if there are other issues that they would choose not to help you with. |

If it’s more than just a simple question, if I have a problem, I almost always escalate immediately to a manager, and then the manager’s manager Quoting: martian. Same here you have no idea how much better that is just get a bit louder and say get me the manger now if they start getting uppity! Only problem with that is every once in s blue moon, someone doesn’t know how to transfer calls and you get hung up on lol. |

Certain ‘ethnic’ groups portend their lousy/non-existing service by simply saying “hello” in their accent and at about 1/3rd the speed most people talk at. Other times, it’s a give-away that a Millenial has answered and 99% of them are so put-upon having to work and pay their own bills, that the resentment of being there is audible. Then there is getting you call answered by an East Indian, who although they speak enough English to get hired, their accent, cadence and tonal inflections make it impossible to understand them in conversations. American Express changed their call routing for customer service so that US/UK callers would not be answered by some idiot who’s English was unintelligible. I know this change effected Platinum and the infamous Centurion/Black cardholders. I suspect the green card, blue cash card and gold cards are still getting answered from heaven-only-knows where, or by whom? Seems that for an Annual Fee of 450/year or more, you customer service is handled more carefully and although it’s clearly elitist that’s what Amex bases their service and image on. Life really is a banquet - and truly - most poor sucker are starving! Enjoy the ride baby. |

I'm sorry, I know what you mean. I use Tracfone and their customer service is shit, too. They are always Indian. I dread calling them. Sometimes I end up calling several times to get someone I can understand. Even if they speak ok English, they have to "escalate" & transfer you to someone who can actually do something about it.
