User ID: 42400510 United States 10/08/2018 10:30 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've been trying to process all of this, and haven't felt like listening to the barrage of "pussy" and "should have killed him" from keyboard warriors while doing so, but whatever, here it is: Quoting: GTB TL;DR version: Someone was breaking into my house and I helped them evacuate their bowels with the help of my handgun instead of giving them a lead tuneup. It's 2am, and I literally just got up from playing a video game with my nephew on ps4. I heard a noise on the other side of the house, so I went to go check on it. I wrote it off as my turtle rearranging his shit and went into my bedroom where my wife was sleeping when I heard something at my window. It didn't take but five seconds or so for it to be clear this was someone taking the screen out. I grabbed the only gun I don't keep in a safe (five children) and woke my wife up. I told her to get on the floor between the bed and dresser, took a defensive position a couple of feet behind the window, and focused on controlling my breath. I wasn't breathing heavily, I just knew I was about to have to pull the trigger and wanted to get it right. The screen was out now and the window was creaking, so my mind was instantly made up; I'm shooting. I have to shoot. I thought about telling the guy I was there to begin with, but I didn't want to give up the huge advantage I had, plus, I live in FL; this would without a doubt be a textbook Castle Doctrine case. As I'm waiting, my wife is begging me to make sure it's not one of the kids. I knew it wasn't because I had just checked the house for the previous noise, but for some reason, it made me decide to announce that I was there, inches away and about to rush deliver him to the consequences of the worst decision he had made in his life. I shouted, "I'M ABOUT TO PUT SOME BIG HOLES IN YOU, MOTHERFUCKER!!!' and he shouted back that he was "Very sorry" slammed my window back shut from the foot or so he had it opened, and ran away between houses. I turned the flashlight on my Sig, and ran through my house checking the rooms, and then around the outside of my house while my wife dialed 911. Once outside, I realized that he had taken out three screens looking for an unlocked window, and mine was the only one he found. Now that it is over, and I have had a few days to process it, here is where my head is at: Words can't begin to describe how happy I am that I was armed and prepared for the situation, but I am even happier that I didn't have to take a life. If you come into my house at two in the morning, you will die, and had I caught him legit inside my house he would have, but I almost missed the chance to stop him BEFORE that happened. Of the thousand things running through my mind since, this is the one that is there the most. What are your thoughts GLP? Did I fuck up? Am I a pussy? I wasn't scared to shoot him, in fact, if not for my wife I most likely would have. I'm glad I didn't though. im with you man ~ very much within your right ~ I hope and pray i never have to use one of mine in this way. the fallout and how fucked your life instantly becomes has to be insane. but again, hes coming in you have to do it. i think if go warning as well ~ i always worry, well will he come back? probably not - he knows your armed. or if you do shoot him do his thug buddies come for payback? its all around shitty. im glad you were armed and didn have to find out what happens after the trigger is pulled. I'm incredibly soft by Florida standards. If I had a Local or Flogrown sticker on my truck, they would remove it per state law for not shooting him. I think id like to say the same god forbid i ever have to experience what you did. Quoting: Precision Thanks, sir! If there is one thing I am sure of, it is that my last words will be pretty decent. User ID: 24338353 United States 10/08/2018 10:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | ... Quoting: SamReed OP did great? And you present yourself as a tough guy? In my case, there would have been the process of patiently waiting for corpse removal and I would have used used all the leftover blood and brain matter to fertilize my garden. Then I would wash my hands, open up a videogame and smile... As an Ex-LE officer...I believe op did a great job. Can you imagine the hell of going through weapon seizure, heavy investigation and public hatred just because you protected your family? I would imagine you've not thought that through, you're not very bright. Bottom line...The perp ran away. He won't be back. I was just joking about the videogames. I don't play videogames. But that burglar would have been dead as a fucking rock and none of that other shit would matter, to me or to him. Anybody that just shoots another person without having a brief conversation in some fashion...shouldn't own a firearm IMO. I had hundreds of justified opportunities to blow holes in criminals. Never did. Never had one resist my commands while drawn. Never. I was ready every single time to end that person's life. Never had to. Using the name of Jesus toward possessed drug induced nutjobs was extremely effective. Wise mutherfuckin words. Maybe it’ll sink in to some on here. "Be like water my friend”- Bruce Lee |

They not only didn't come back, they left immediately after stepping in the red slime. The solution to most problems is generally close at hand. |

Castle doctrine or not, had you killed him you'd not only be dealing with that but possible arrest and trial. Generally, doesn't a perp have to, at least, part way in your house to kill them? I know there are exceptions but those are crap shoots. Thinking of the guy in Texas who killed one or two thugs sniffing around his neighbor's house and they were outside, running away. Damn lucky he got an old fashioned Texas jury because libturds are lurking all over. In his poem Human Pride, Marx admits that his aim is not to improve the world, reform or revolutionize it, but simply to ruin it and enjoy it being ruined: With disdain I will throw my gauntlet full in the face of the world, And see the collapse of this pygmy giant whose fall will not stifle my ardor. Then will I wander godlike and victorious through the ruins of the world And, giving my words an active force, I will feel equal to the Creator. “Looking for consciousness in the brain is like looking in the radio for the announcer.” – Nasseim Haramein, Director of Research for the Resonance Project |

You do not know the story of the Man, & to take a life is a BIG thing on he contracts we all do have. You may have given him the chance to become something good, perhaps. If he comes back I would not take any chances, & if you need to kill him make it swift and without suffering. |

Quoting: Lundagnan You have 5 kids in the house and they all sleep , and you, their father is the one playing video game at 2AM ? Also It's very hard to see in the dark after looking into the screen playing games After the children go to sleep is the best time to play. That's why you wear a patch over one eye. |
