OP most of these sheep are just blowing smoke up your a$$.

I want to help you prevent it in the future, put up good cameras, and do it yourself so no one else knows what you have, install a simple alarm for windows, and doors, get good locks.

Most of the time these people case your house for weeks, and you can see them on the cameras. beware of everything odd.

Give no one the benefit of the doubt!
