Trump the Boss

Steve ‘isteve’ Sailer commenting about Paul Krugman’s latest compares Trump with the late Yankees owner George Steinbrenner and I agree it is a very New York thing for the boss to be not only pugnacious but also to purposely sow disinformation amongst his own staff. I commented that my experience working for the iconoclastic indie filmmaker Lloyd “Toxic Avenger” Kaufman gave me insight into this type of New York personality and the ‘nice guys finish last’ mindset.Lloyd enjoyed hearing his employees screaming at each other (“it means they care”) and often played pranks on us which would then trigger a lecture along the lines of “this is why my movies are schlock, because you people...”. But Steve deleted my comment, probably because I also plugged my book (B-MOVIE BLUES - find it at terrywoods.com / linked to amazon). So I’m not linking his blog (Bronx cheer to isteve). Still, I agree with the Steinbrenner comparison and the stereotype of the New York Boss who likes to stir up the fecal matter and keep everyone off balance. It’s a real thing. And like Trump, Kaufman has succeeded in a world set against him, Troma Films being the longest surviving independent film company in history. Our competitors back then (Miramax and new line cinemas) having long ago been swallowed by Disney and Warner’s, respectively.
