Re: )))BREAKING((( Paul Allen dead at 65
I met Mr. Allen at the Experience Music Project (now called MoPOP), that he primarily funded, back in 2000. He was in several meetings I took and was a fairly quiet guy, but asked interesting questions for someone not from a traditional audio or themed entertainment background.
At the opening night - one of the coolest parties I've taken in - we sat through an installation several times to get the tweaks and tuning to his and my mutual liking's; he was very open to my opinions and suggested rather than insisted.

But in the end analysis he can now share one of my favorite lines which is, "I came into this world with absolutely nothing, and at this point it appears I've managed to retain all of it..!".

I'm curious why no one cares about this. I don't, but why don't more people who keep up with this thing? Did he just escape to a life in a new bubble and bunker?

The post to which I replied implied that Steve Jobs died not from cancer but because of AIDS. I was merely pointing out that money is obviously able to prevent death from AIDS.

The Paul Allen node burned bright. He was a remarkable individual with massive resources. I wonder how much thought he gave to local communities and decentralization of government as a key to human happiness and creativity? Just wondering....
RIP....Paul Allen

He gave lots of thought as to how the plebes could finance his sports teams for him. Didn't he get taxpayers to blow up the kingdome and rebuild a new one for him?

It makes me laugh that people associate him with charitable donations when he was picking the public pocket on the other hand.

By the way, Hodgkins lymphoma is considered a marker for aids and he was a single man with no children. So I'm gonna assume he was one of the creepy gay billionaires ruling the world these days.

And why we have men winning all the women's sporting events and boys and men in the girls bathrooms.

Seems like he was a good guy. Didn’t like the spotlight like some of the others. He funded the African Elephant Count, and he owned a really nice safari camp in the Okavango Delta (Botswana) that preserves the land for the elephants and employs the locals and allowed people from around the world to experience the magic of communing with the rescued elephants (raised as orphans at the camp after their mothers were murdered by poachers). Seahawks and Trailblazers are both good, solid, class organizations. And of course the MicroSoft thing lol. He made a positive impact in his life. Job well done. ^5

I can confirm this from personal experience. I once happened to meet him quite unexpectedly, some years back.

I worked in Monaco at the time. I went for long walks along the coast whenever time permitted, just to get away from it all. The scenery was always glorious.

My favourite walk was Cap Ferrat all around the cape, especially in bad weather with high winds. I would go in any weather.

This is how I ran into Paul Allen. He was alone. He was probably doing his own walk around the Cape, in the opposite direction. The man looked courteous and pleasant, rather low key. He said hello first. I said hello... and I kept going my own way.

There are rarely people walking around the Cape any time of year, at least not the whole cape. Some sections are easy but other sections are rough, one has to be careful where they put their feet. I always liked going all the way at the point near the light house for the views and watching airliners making their way for landing at the airport in Nice.

I had frequent sights of Allen's Octopus super yacht. He would have it moored off shore his Cap Ferrat property. It was always quite visible even from a distance and quite recognizable. Octopus wasn't your ordinary yacht.

I must say he had good taste.

Allen was not talked about, unlike most other Riviera celebrities. The man was discrete.

Rest in Peace.

Octopus super yacht. - Allen would have it sailed to all parts of the world by the crew and jet off to wherever he pleased enjoying time on his boat.

A page and a half, I think that means no one cares. So you can go away now. A legitimate question, I guess he is just a has been, no millennials probably even know who he is.
