If they had v2k 70 years ago it was simple tech and they can replace it now with AI so everyone around you who is tricked starts "talking spirits to you".

There is commercial tech to read silent whispers/thought from vocal cords but you need a sensor on the tissue. If this goes mainstream in 3-5 years the badass tech must be a fully augmented experience.
