This sort of cryptography was used only in military applications historically, before being implemented in and accessible to the general public. A voting solution would not be like this though... see dragonchain for an example of a hybrid public/private solution. But the identity of each voter would be unknown to anyone as long as the voter first confirmed identity as US citizen eligiblets to vote. Basically the system would ask for your info in order to access the vote, and then u would vote. The vote and the access would be entirely separate and nonconnected processes. And of course the code would be entirely opensourced so all us geeks could make sure there is no fuckery or backdoors or security concerns first.  |
