This is new to me, so I have little idea what's involved here. However, in respect to how banking systems like ATMs NEVER get our financial dealings wrong, for at least the past decade, I have considered that our voting process should use theirs as a model.

That said, this blockchain sounds a perfect solution.

I think an additional upgrade would be to institute run-off voting. This way, if our 1st preferred candidate doesn't make it...at least our second choice has a greater chance of representing our vote preference. It would allow a better accounting of true voter affinities.
