Well its about time! I was an owner operator before Reagan deregulated the industry.
$2.00-$3.00 a mile was the norm for owner operators.
After deregulation- you got Swift and JB Hunt hiring people for .21 cents a mile..
Cant make a living that way....

Just think in Trumps economy if a liberal would get off their ass they could get off welfare.

why are people going to drive if ROBOTS are going to be driving?! it makes no bloody sense.

Well hell, looks like ill schedule that medical card appointment after all. I was considering letting my CDL lapse as it almost felt worthless to maintain anymore.

In my case, I drive service trucks for welding and repair.

Yup, but nowadays you got governed trucks at (dangerously) low ridiculous speeds like 62mph, cameras in cab watching you pic ur nose, microphones to snitch on you, elogs, ya you might make 5 g's or so a month otr but if you divide that up 7 days a week 13 hours a day u aint making squat . PAst 10 years ive been werkin for sod farm haulin grass, trucks governed but at 75, and no cameras, no paperwork and no logs, yeee haaaa ! Sure is nice to see the wage increases though, pays been stagnant for the past 25 years.

All I got to say is ...stay away from the mega carriers

I was told at the food stamp place by the black lady who has the power a life-and-death over all of us white nothing's right to my face that there is no job training cuz she thought that I was stupid enough not to understand that's the whole point of their office. That job training that they reserved for others of their own race is extremely valuable and can be a lifelong career

They're supposed to hook you up with things like CDL training but I guess if you're white they do not have any motivation to help you out apparently. Possible they're just stupid and lazy and have no desire to help you but I see other fellow minorities getting into those programs apparently and getting all kinds of fantastic jobs.

From Canada to the us. There is a shortage and freight rates have already increased exponentially in the last 6 months. Most us truck companies went outta business in 2008 cause there was no money to be made. Now we have to get them back. And we will. MAGA

I've been a truck driver the last 9 years, it's a good job field but it's tough on the body. If you get in with a good local company it's worth it, but if you work for a mega otr outfit it's not. I'm in the process of getting out of the industry and doing something else. I've had enough

My buddy who drives just got a $25k raise and three months vacation. Keep rollin.

I would like to go to school and be a trucker but I wonder if it's possible to occasionally smoke a joint and get away with it.

That would be ideal if they just fucked off with making the shit illegal cuz that would probably be ideal to just settle down after the drive with a little toke and play some acoustic guitar and pass out.

What happens when the Chinese crap is no longer shipping subsitized and the products raise in price and nobody wants expensive trinkets any more?

It seems to me that once the business dealings with China are on a level playing field, we will need less truckers moving a bunch of crap that is no longer selling.

JBH is the worst. I have 10 open Work Orders for emergency road service at this moment. We only serve NH seacoast! I cant imagine what they have open country wide. they generally dont pay a dime until at least 45 days. They have net 10 terms

Ahhh.... Nope. unless you find a company that dont drug test. You can smoke it all you want at any company but you get hit with a random and its audios and you most likely wont get hired anywhere else. And if you get in a truck accident while high youre screwed and the company is screwed. The sod farm im at dont drug test, this one driver we had toked up all the time and got in a truck wreak which he was at fault for, needless to say he no longer werks there and the company is facing big lawsuits. Hes screwed for getting another cdl job,ever.

Most of you have no idea why there is shortage...after December 19 2019 all trucks made after 2001 required to have ELD ( electric logging device) ...and to make money with that thing in your truck...you will have to literally live in truck. Other option is to go work for big company hourly wage... unless it is union or gubment job....you will work from payday to payday...but now live in company truck.

I bet they would have less of a shortage if they allowed tokes for truckers, at least after you are done for the night. Not while driving.

I have driven for 27 years.In that time I have hauled everything.My advice is to go into a specialized field,I haul hazmat out of government facilities,all the real bad stuff.At times they will put a five gallon bucket in my 53 foot trailer and send me across the country.When I get there they take five or six hours to get that one bucket out all the time I'm on the clock.Then when I'm done I go back empty.No back hauls,no brokers,The worse part is seeing the government continuously waste money.It seems they look for ways to squander it away.Best job I ever had.

There is no such thing as a worker shortage in any industry. It is always a pay shortage. If you pay enough, people will take the job.

Can't find enough people who want to be truckers? then double the starting salary and then see how many sign up.
