We require them to go through a vetting process before they can enter.

This is absolutely false. The United States was settled by a group of brave people, they didn't "emigrate", I'm a daughter of the American Revolution, I didn't emigrate here and in fact Ben Franklin warned my ancestors to never let the swarthy skinned Germans into to the new country.

That's true, but the immigrants then were hard-working decent people who didn't come to the U.S. for the same reasons these more recent groups have.

DID ya know at Ellis Island immigrants had to have means to support themselves for the first year? were checked for disease ~ criminal and other questionable backgrounds were checked ~

people were rightfully quarantined, turned away, or delayed until a plan was in place to make them have a chance at being successful.

My neighbors were from mexico - it took her 28 years to legally become a citizen because of the length of that list of people trying to do it legally from mexico.

There is plenty of legal immigration. Anyone is welcome to apply to be admitted legally. It's a lot of work, I know, but it's the same with almost every other country, including Mexico, Guatemala and the rest of them.

Yes, the USA was built by immigrants who wanted to come to work for a better place. Many of these freeloaders illegally coming here today are gang member intent on crime and moochers who want free housing, food and and medical care. If they can't handle the work, they shouldn't come. Hopefully, the free things will be turned off soon.

In the past, about 1/3 of the people who came and were admitted returned to their home country. It's not easy moving to a new country and scratching out a living.

We also came over here and conquered this land to be our own. As did many people and nations back in the day. Just because we used to accept immigrants more openly than we do now doesnt mean we dont do it still. There is just a process, instead of being shoveled on to a ship to be brought over.
There is a vetting process. And it needs to be adhered to, or our quality of life that we made for ourselves will diminish.
