When did ´terrorists´ become ´insurgents´?

Most of them are Iraqi patriots or nationalists defending their nation from a foreign and imposed culture.

They were Iraqies until the american nazi party told the whore media to tell america they were not.

They are insurgents because calling them terrorists is SO incorrect that it would soon threaten Americans. It started to be recieved as "We call freedom fighters terrorist, you are next...." So they changed the wording.

If the superpower of the world invaded your nation, killed your women, children, elderly, cut off your water,food, electricity and medicine and bombed your town with depleted uranium, what would you do? I just think the semantic spin is ridiculous...you hear that word bandied about these days like people actually know what it means. Most people, I´d imagine, don´t give the rhetoric a second thought, and of course the Iraqi ´insurgents´ don´t really give a toss what they´re called by the propagandists...

Native Americans one of many "insurgents"

The civilans do not like the New government that britian and the usa put in power. They actually have the nerve to want to form their own government.

They´re not really terrorist, just native people trying to rid their country from those who want their oil. The coalition could be more appropriately named insurgents since they´re the ones invading another country.

THE iraqi freedom fighters are not insurgents, they are freedom fighters,, the name was changed because the words freedom fighter gives off the aura of sympathy, we should be sympathetic to them as well as the palestinians who are all freedom fighters , fighting for freedom, the iraqi people have less freedom now then they ever had in the history of iraq, there is no freedom in IRAQ with the american apes holding guns to women and children, they never show footage of a child lying dead or a woman who happend to be traveling in a car going to fast , but belive me there are photos like that out there, one woman was shot dead for approaching the soilders yesterday with a basket of bread.. this is the reality war, the soilders have been there too long and are starting to lose their minds, they are seeing every iraqi as a threat, even the three year old they killed last week who was running away from a house where his family was just blown up by a missle, they shot the kid dead on the spot for running away, y´all chould check the military boards

War declared on resistance

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Times has ordered its journalists to stop describing anti-American forces in Iraq as resistance fighters, saying the term romanticises them and evokes World War II-era heroism.

An email circulated this week asked staff to instead use the terms insurgents or guerillas.

An assistant managing editor, Melissa McCoy, said on Wednesday that the memo followed a discussion among top editors at the paper and was not sparked by reader complaints.

McCoy said she considered the term resistance fighters an accurate description of Iraqis battling US troops, but said it also evoked World War II - specifically the French Resistance or Jews who fought against Nazis in the Warsaw ghetto.

She was confident that Times reporters who used the term had no intention to romanticise the Iraqis who have killed more than 100 US soldiers since Washington declared the war all but over in May. The paper´s Baghdad bureau had no objection to the change.

David Hoffman, foreign editor of The Washington Post, said his paper had used the phrase resistance fighters to describe Iraqi forces and had no objection to it. "They are resisting an American occupation so it´s not inaccurate."

That can't be right.
Anyway, I appreciate finding this thread and reading the 2003 'directive' above re: the deliberate change in use of the word, even if it's almost 11 years coming. Thank goodness for media and market research!! I LOVE the ways they try and tell us all what to think!
