Dashcam footage shows Texas school bus swept away after driver tries crossing high water


police arrested a Texas school bus driver for driving around a barricade and into a low-water crossing with a student on board

LPD officials said Nathan Deyoung was going down County Road 177 on Oct. 16 around 8:30 a.m. when the school bus he was driving was swept away by floodwaters.

First responders with Leander and Williamson counties were able to pull Deyoung and a 12-year-old student to safety

He had one kid left to drop off. I was greedy about his time and didn't want to return to the school with the kid. Why? Because it meant he would have to babysit the kid until the parents were able to come pick up their kid.

He made a very poor choice in an area of town where it is hard to get a job in the first place. So stupid. He could have got himself and the kid killed, which he obviously didn't care about. Just don't want to be late for Miller time.

School bus cams in my experience do not have audio. These are the cams recording what is going on inside the bus itself.

I agree with the driver's decision to cross. That kid needed to be delivered home and a little water should not deter in getting the job done. The kid's dad owes that guy a beer.
