No matter what - the story so far is HORRIBLE!

Stay strong OP - you must keep it together ...

Go to social services office IN THE HOSPITAL ( I'm guessing a children's hospital is what is recommended for a pregnant woman with these complications ) Ask what hospital policy is for charity services for those that lose insurance during a major illness and pregnancy ? Shut up an take notes - the social worker is there to connect you to any and all help they have. Maybe she qualifies for Medicaid now - apply tomorrow .

Ask EACH DOCTOR as you look them in the eye if they will provide "charity" services for your wife and not send a bill due to this development - they have been billing all along and got a lot already . Ask "As of Nov 1st - we have no insurance and request as much charity as you can possibly give our little family" . One doctors bill less is tens of thousands less to pay.
SHAME the others once one doc agrees to not charge after Nov 1st- they are competitive.

Do those things - ask everyone to PRAY for a safe and healthy delivery.

Ask friends and family to set up a fundraiser page NOW before you are overwhelmed - have pools for the birth date - anything to get people involved. You may need help AND money if Mom or baby has to stay at the hospital. Accept every gesture from every person without judgement - people are good but sometimes can't understand your need . MAKE them understand - patiently

If you are a member of ANY group - let them KNOW your need! The Moose - the VFW- the craft club - a church- an employer or employee group - a neighborhood association - one neighborhood organized a MEAL TRAIN where people signed up to cook or bring take-out or healthy meals for weeks after a friend had a baby - it all helps. You can't go to the store and stay by her side.

OP - is it a boy or a girl? Get YARDSIGN - BE EXCITED!

I think that baby is coming sometime sooner than you thought . My son was 3 weeks early and is still the "ready or not here I come " type of guy!

Do what needs to be done - chill out later - don't let clueless people drain you - keep ASKING for help -be REAL with people - NEVER GIVE UP!

I am guessing she was on COBRA or another time-limited health insurance, and the disability was short-term from an employer
