Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Some of us recall Hubert H. Humphrey, Jr., a career Senator from the People's Republic of Minnesota. He did take a mid-career break to serve as Vice President from 1965 to 1969, and he was the (unsuccessful) Democrat nominee for President in 1968. I think he'd have liked to have been nominated in '72 and '76, too, but it didn't work out for him.
Hubert was often described as "The Happy Warrior". This was a phrase William Wordsworth had popularized 150 years earlier; I don't know if HHH himself borrowed it, or if someone else decided it was appropriate for him.
But when I think Happy Warrior, all I can see is Mr. Trump. The man positively revels in this role. I'll be one happy voter when I vote for him again in 2020. Keep up the good work, sir, and Godspeed. |
