It's a shame what's happened to Colorado.

I grew up in Boulder during the 1960's and 70's. It went from a hardware store and traditional small town downtown to a mall with a freak show.

The yuppies took over and jacked up the prices. Yes, it was a great place to live with good weather and great outdoors.

I don't think I'd ever move back. Maybe Idaho. Montana seems to be overrun now.

I remember a kid from scouts, his father was a garbageman and you could smell his work at the meetings, but no one minded.

He moved to Montana from Boulder in about 1972 because "it was getting too crowded". Smart man.

When you are afraid of losing your life, you have already lost your life.

Don't be afraid.

I was born and raised in Colorado. I remember when the Californian's started rolling in the late 1990's. They artificially raised housing prices. Then I noticed people became rude and angry drivers. Colorado was such a wonderful place before everyone started moving there. I remember when I was learning how to drive in the late 80's people were so kind and thoughtful. If you put on your turning signal to change lanes people would slow down and let you in. They also never rode your bumper. Now driving is horrible and stressful because people are so rude and selfish. But it seems like it's getting that way everywhere.

We moved to Texas about 5 years ago. I absolutely love it here. I hope they don't start moving here in droves with the liberal mental illness and rude ways.

Re: Colrafo! The new California! Wish they would leave!
An acquaintance of mine bought a normal-sized house in Boulder in 2002 for $200,000. Just sold it a couple years ago for almost $900,000. This was not a great house or anything. Very middle-class, somewhat needing work even. Now Boulder is way overpriced and no one can live there anymore unless they are wealthy or have 2 or 3 roommates. So if those of you who left before this boom happened, if you'd have hung on you'd be millionaires now. Just sayin'. But yeah, Boulder has turned into hippie heaven. I never go there anymore. Can't stand it.

I know! Our house is worth $200,000 more now than when we left 5 years ago. The guy who bought it from us is going to make a fortune.

It's a shame that housing prices have gone sky hi. Now, a lot of people can't even afford a house.

We have a child in college in Boulder. Even with roommates his rent is very high.

COS here...was a nice town, now in a big growth spurt, which is destroying and small city charm it had. Massive influx of refugees from CA, who come and continue voting "D", with predictable negative outcomes (what's the definition of insanity?).

...we're a blue state now...sigh....

Took,a bit to answer the thread. Election probes Colorado did toast. Very sad. But I think it is time to look for a new state. Suggestions anyone?
