I was at yale too, albeit in a more orthodox way.

I thought that perhaps we could compare notes on it and politics, a field that would have been my absolute last choice, but I got pissed off enough to want to do something as reckless as run for public office, twice.

The one above S&B is material resources (oil, gold, uranium, etc), country level governance, etc. There are various ones around the globe at that same level.

S&B/intelligence etc does a lot of the back and forth between those, acting as a go-between (dumb fucking idea, but no one's asking my opinion).

If the material resources level have their own masters, I wouldn't know. The thing about good organizational structure, is that you generally don't let people interact with more than one rung above them.

Religion used to be an arm of government. If a ruling family had a second or third son, instead of inheriting the father's land and plebs to rule over, that son would become a cleric/priest/etc. Same family, same motives, different method of control, all coordinated over the family dinner table.
