I used to work at home as a medical transcriptionist. I went to school for it. Got about 10 years of at-home work before the EMR (electronic medical records) became mandatory in healthcare setting, which means the nurse began typing the medical records/reports in the room as the patient was being seen, thus eliminating the transcriptionist's job. This was such a swift kick in my butt. I really miss it.

I live rural. I operated with Satellite for about 12 years. It was all we could get where we live. We now get high speed unlimited internet over the phone line and can watch streaming movies back to back if we so choose or play modern online games like overwatch and fortnight. We ditched wild blue.

I learned that Century Link was required to do rural installing.

I found a write up online that informed me that Century Link received funds to put in high speed internet in rural communities and locations. I found out they had put some in about 5 miles south of me but bypassed my road and went up another. I also learned that they couldn't refuse a request and had it ordered in where I live. They were required to oblige due to them being paid already under the contract, even if they had to run new line. We informed them that there were about 15 families who would benefit on our leg of a county road and contacted some of those families and shared our info. We had high speed internet within a week.
