Crisis in the auto industry
Nov 27, 2018

I was informed recently by an insider in the auto business that President Obama mandated that by 2020 the auto industry must build all of their autos that will run at least 40 miles per gallon. The response of the corporations is that they are switching to electric vehicles. Only their trucks will continue as before, because (I was told) they are exempt from the Obama mandate.

I have been unable to locate any such law, but I did find a 2012 law where Obama mandated that auto mileage would have to be 54.5 mpg by 2025. This rule does not exempt “light-duty trucks.”

WASHINGTON, DC – The Obama Administration today finalized groundbreaking standards that will increase fuel economy to the equivalent of 54.5 mpg for cars and light-duty trucks by Model Year 2025.

I do not know if the 2020 standard is part of this or not. Obama touted this as a plan to save drivers billions of dollars in fuel costs. All of that sounds good, and certainly, the technology is known which could give us at least 100 mpg. However, those patents have been bought up and buried in order to save the oil industry. The technology to use water as fuel has long been with us as well and has been used successfully among certain individuals. However, those inventors tend to die young, and their technology then disappears in corporate vaults.

Perhaps Obama thought that he could force the auto industry to utilize that technology. If so, the plan has backfired, because the automakers are planning to switch to electric vehicles.

Rising interest rates and debt saturation seems to have slowed down the demand for autos in America in 2018. Now the news tells us that GM plans to lay off 15 percent of its labor force. But they are not alone. All of the automakers are cutting back and will close plants in 2019, including GM’s plant in Oshawa.

I suspect, however, that the automakers believe that the American public is going to react negatively toward being forced to buy electric vehicles. For a few years, sales will plummet, so they are positioning themselves today to cope with this public reaction.

I also suspect that their economic analysts see a recession coming, and they are downsizing now in anticipation of this.

My hope is that President Donald Trump will eventually force the big corporations to cough up these patents, as this would change the world as we know it. There are even greater patents that have been confiscated at the patent office by the CIA on “national security” grounds. It’s really a policy to “save our butts and keep the people in bondage.” I once knew a retired engineer (now dead) who worked at the patent office in Washington DC.

Reminds me of the movie Tucker and the Tucker automobile dream some 70 years ago that was crushed by the elite and power brokers.

I don't doubt this at all. Look at what happened with Tesla.

Even the few who created cars that ran on water died.

It's one agenda after another. I like my older cars. They are more durable and reliable. Fairly cheap to maintain and work on.

I hear from some that the 1975 and earlier vintage with points will still drive in an EMP event.

The military still uses points in many of their combustion engines from what I've heard.... they don't want civilians on the road in an EMP scenario either.

I've heard the same. My first car was a 1978 Pontiac Firebird when I was 16 years old. You could literally crawl under the hood and close it because it wasn't full of the crap in today's cars. I honestly can't remember if the car had a 400 or 403 as the engine. It did have a Holley Quadrajets Carburetors that were easy to work on. I remember having to set the fuel/air mixture as I went up into the mountains. It developed a hole in it and it was less than 300 bucks for a new one. It's crazy how much prices have changed.

I started out with a 1964 Ford Falcon 260 V-8....same basic motor drive train as the early Mustangs.
