Best thing for President Trump to do is to cut a deal with another car maker and set them up in the States that are laying off the GM workers. It's not Trump's decision. GM and Ford simply cannot make a car as reliable as Toyota or Honda.If people don't buy the product , the companies won't survive , that is it. GM and Ford relying on crossover suv market is a act of desperation.If they cannot make a vehicle as reliable as the Japanese manufacturers people will not buy them also.

GM and Ford's large truck and SUV models sell well because those models create the highest profit margin. These vehicles are better built obviously because to lose that those owners loyalty means almost certain demise. Which may be inevitable anyway.
