Outside Waxahachie, they were building one that would dwarf CERN. For some reason it got cancelled in 1992, but the tunnels and buildings are still there. Very interesting.

I guess I’m the only geek that finds this very cool. I’d love to go down in the tunnels.

Yes, they have sold off the tunnel sections to private companies now. I have a friend that road around in them with a four wheeler before they were sold. It's like a highway system underground, He said it was very cool but very creepy!

It got cancelled because the cost kept rising astronomically, finally the govt. said enough of this, and unfunded the project.

I read about this in an article about three years ago. The article stated that there are least four superconductor spread throughout the world.

They scrapped it, and built CERN instead.

have you ever been to Waxahachie Texas?

 Quoting: Colloidal Peanut Butter

Yes, and it was the original location of Trinity University. Waxahachie is a native-american word translated "no caravaners"
 Quoting: RepublicofTexas

Definition of caravanner. 1 : one that travels in a caravan. 2 British : one who goes camping with a trailer.

Re: Did anyonele else know a 50 mile superconductor was being built in Texas?
They SAID it was canceled

Who knows

CERN can only operate in the summer because it takes so much power the people wouldn't have enough heat in winter

Of course they picked TEXAS - which has power and land

Why was it closed ?
