Heavy machinery “rakes” Finland’s forest floors after tree cutting, greatly reducing fire risks

Mikko Paunio

President Donald Trump was recently ridiculed for telling California Governor Jerry Brown that the Golden State should do as my country does. Trump critics laughed at what some called his “bizarre” claim that foresters in Finland “rake” areas that have been thinned or clear-cut, to remove leaves and other debris that could otherwise start conflagrations like the recent tragic fires in California.--

that have been thinned or clear cut

meaning areas that have been logged

so not areas of just regular forest that have not been logged

the rest of the forest no one ever rakes, and forests have existed LOOOOONG before humans and guess what were just fine with no one raking them
 Quoting: BillyBoJo

and guess what does the raking for nature......Fire. With no humans lightning still exists and causes fires. These natural occuring fires happen often enough that most brush and dead fall are burned off so that there is never heavy fuel for large crown fires which burn everything.

So since humans like to live near and in the mountains humans need to do what natural fire do and that is keep the forest floors from getting to heavy with fuel. Doing this reduces fire risk and fire intensity.

We are encouraged to clean up the forest of excess brush on our property and the green spaces in my neighborhood, which is a couple thousand acres.

We could learn a lot from Finland.

1. One hundred percent literacy
2. More doctors per capita than anywhere else in the world.
3. The average 16 year old kid speaks 5 languages. FLUENTLY
4. No national debt. They have a surplus.
5. Little to no crime. Cops don’t even carry guns.

That’s just a few things. The schools use a program called Super Learning. Relaxed state high intensity info bombardment. Kids acquire massive amounts of info rapidly.

Finns are all conservationists. Walking in the forest any wild reigndeer will walk up to a person and ask to be petted. Finns have seemingly tamed their wildlife. But they just live in harmony.

When Russia attacked Finland, a hand full of Finnish farmers took to the forest on cross country skis and decimated a Russian army killing off tens of thousands.

The most decorated sniper in military history was Selmo Hyak (sp) aka..the White Death with hundreds of confirmed kills. He used an old Mossin Nagent with iron sites and shot Russians like ducks in a rain barrel. Prior to the war he was a quiet farmer.

Tru tru. Especially the Selmo Hyak part. Dude was aimbotting the whole war.
