Yes ... but he Shook Down the Canadian Government for a $10.5 million dollar payout AFTER being engaged in a firefight in Afghanistan that killed the US Soldiers.

I can't believe the Canadians gave him $10.5 million dollars, after he was voluntarily engaged in a battle to kill US and other soldiers, which HE DID!!

He should feel lucky he is just alive and able to walk around Canada living off of his Canadian Government money ... and not be bitching.

How many Canadians actually have led good honest productive lives, never killed anyone, and never had their government give them $10+ million dollars so they never have to work another day in their lives? MOST I would imagine!!

Canadians didn't give him that money. Trudeau did this all on his own; this settlement was not court ordered! Canadians are just as upset that this piece of shit murdered a medic and got rewarded for it - from another piece of shit!

Canadian military began its Afghanistan mission as early as 2001. Omar, being Canadian born, was fighting against his own country when he killed the US medic in 2002. Yes, it's sickening from all aspects, especially for the widow and children.

In 2010 Khadr confessed to murder and received 8 years. Obama, some time later, wanted to close Gitmo and return prisoners to their own countries. Our PM at the time dragged it out as long as he could. Part of the confession deal was the possibility of returning to Canada. There was pressure from the left regarding 'child soldiers,' more bullshit along that line and eventually he was incarcerated in S. Ontario, then medium security out in Alberta. Out on bail in 2015.

I thought it was a US military proceeding, an appeal. He's been convicted, he's appealing, and while the appeal runs he's out on bail!?

And he got a $10.5 million payout for not being treated nice at Guantanamo. Bizarre. I think Obama was just trying to cuck us in every way possible and arrange for Muslims to get money whenever possible.

Like intentionally losing the court case that led to the Flores agreement that means we can't keep illegal alien kids in captivity for more than a few weeks.

That's what these leftist governments do, they intentionally create conditions where they'll "have to" provide a jackpot for immigrants, they get a court to order it.

Yes, there is an appeal stateside which has been delayed /postponed. Found out today that a couple of weeks ago he applied for a passport to go visit his sister, Saudi Arabia, maybe Georgia. NOPE! He can't even travel to Toronto. Omar has limited movement due to this appeal!
