Jennie-O Ground Turkey Recall Amid Multidrug-Resistant Salmonella Outbreak

[ link to www.cbsnews.com (secure)] Jennie-O Turkey Store Sales, Inc., is recalling more than 164,000 pounds of raw ground turkey products over possible salmonella, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service said Friday.
The items that might be contaminated were shipped across the U.S. and produced on two days: October 22 and 23.
"The products subject to recall bear establishment number 'EST. P-579' inside the USDA mark of inspection or on the side of the tray," the Food Safety and Inspection Service said in a news release. [ link to www.fsis.usda.gov (secure)] FSIS and our public health partners, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and state public health officials, are investigating a Salmonella Reading outbreak. A previous recall of raw ground turkey products associated with the outbreak occurred on Nov. 15, 2018. [ link to www.cdc.gov (secure)] Since the last update on November 8, 2018, 52 ill people from 26 states and the District of Columbia have been added to this investigation.
As of December 18, 2018, 216 people infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella Reading have been reported from 38 states and the District of Columbia.
84 people have been hospitalized, and one death has been reported from California.What is going on with a recall every other day now?
