If you have children, Silkies are a good choice. They’re naturally tame and friendly. Plus they are great layers and astoundingly cute. I would post a pic if I knew how.

The neighbors piled firewood on their side of the privacy fence one year. I didn’t know. Their little dog climber it jumped in my yard and I heard the commotion just in time to see it grab my favorite most wonderful little hen and wound her. She died in my arms about 3 min later. This was 5 yrs ago and I still miss her. I’m so sorry about your precious chicks!
