Well this year the 6th is Epiphany day in France, the day everyone in France eats "galette des rois" all together with the family & friends, so I'm not that surprised that hotels would be empty. It's always on the first Sunday of the year (which obviously isn't always the 6th).
Even among atheists this is practiced, kids love it.

And I wouldn't imagine that there's zero clients ? Just way less, if there's zero clients(which has to be proven) it would be bizarre coz you'd still have foreigners.
