(OP) User ID: 76627313 01/11/2019 11:09 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | copied this from an earlier thread: Last year, 86,000 H1-B visas were issued to foreigners. So let's say they can now get citizenship, they are married, have a few brothers or sisters and have two kids. Here's how chain migration works: H1-B visa holder + spouse + two kids = 4 immigrants Parents of both spouses = 4 immigrants Brothers and sisters pf the H1B immigrants = 4 immigrants Total: 12 * 86,000 = 1,032,000 potential new immigrants who will have permanent residency and allowed to work or obtain welfare with a pathway to citizenship each year. Chain migration resulting in a million new immigrants each year, legally competing for jobs or getting welfare. Buzzard |

If we know you're a good guy and your visa is running out, these processes need to be more effective. Quoting: Blessed Ev Do you get your healthcare thru the fedexchg? Then you know exactly the red tape I'm talking bout here. fix it with a pathway to citizenship and then by letting in 1,000,000 new immigrants each year through chain migration so they can compete with Americans for jobs and drive wages down in the process. No exceptions.” March 3, 2016 “I know the H-1B very well. And it’s something that I, frankly, use, and I shouldn’t be allowed to use it. We shouldn’t have it. Very, very bad for workers. And second of all, I think it’s very important to say, well, I’m a businessman and I have to do what I have to do. When it’s sitting there waiting for you, but it’s very bad. It’s very bad for business in terms of — and it’s very bad for our workers and it’s unfair for our workers. And we should end it.” March 10, 2016 And then onApril 8 2017, Trump signed the “Buy American and Hire American” executive order Buzzard |

Easiest way, secure the border tight,...... go through all illegals and sort the "wheat from the chaff" expel/extradite all the "chaff", finger print plus DNA first,....... grant immunity to what remains, with a caveat that any crime whatsoever committed = immediate removal from country. From there on well ............... H1B visas are temporary. They are initially valid for the three years and may be extended for another three, but after that the foreigner must leave for at least one year before they can apply for another H1B. So if Trump did what he said he would do during the campaign and eliminate the H1B visa program and Hire American (which he hasn't), all we would have had to do is wait out the validity and in a few years they would all be gone. What Trump proposed yesterday was a pathway for citizenship, which would allow them to stay, become US citizens and then begin the chain migration of bringing their entire family over. It's a trade-off. Making them citizens would increase the competitive edge of American workers, but only if they are not replaced 1:1 with more H1-B workers. I did it. I did it on purpose. By pushing wages lower and making it harder for Americans to get jobs? |

Now if you include their spouses and kids the total would be around 4-5 million. So if every one of them is offered path to citizenship, our kids will have nothing left but be on welfare for the rest of their lives. |

Fix the problem with this program and I would be on board with legal immigration and citizenship for people who work. Need migrant labor worker programs to be reformed as well. There is no doubt that agriculture and construction sectors benefit from common labor and tradesman skills. If Americans want these jobs, they need to get out of Momma's basement and go get a job. |

MANY more people have been awarded citizenship in the last 40 years than came here in the Ellis Island years. Immigration was reduced drastically in the 1920s to assimilate the Ellis Island people in. As a result, wages went up, extreme abuse of sweatshops were curtailed, child labor in factories ended, and crime rates went down in the large cities. We must stop immigration for decades to even get a handle on what is already here. |
