Racial Division: The subconscious stigmas attached to the words "Black" & "White"
A while ago I was listening to some lectures on color theory while I was working. (I am an artist/painter). They were various 60 minute lectures on Green, one on blue, one on red, and one on Black & White.

And the one on Black & White color theory gave me an epiphany about how we refer to each other and the subconscious stigmas attached to the words "Black" & "White."

It made so much sense in how we treat each other.

The color white has subconscious connotations: it is purity, innocence, holy, sterile, bland, clean, square, etc.

While the color black is dirty, evil, menace, aggressive, power, death, etc.
[link to www.verywellmind.com (secure)]

The lecture went into examples about sports teams and the colors they wear can affect how they play and how they are perceived by referees and the other team, etc.

No one's skin is actually "white" and no one is actually "black."

Like a spell, the language we use to refer to each other keeps us divided.

Personally, I think we should refer to each other as yummy colors such as vanilla, caramel, chocolate, etc.
It would definitely get rid of the stigmas attached to the words Black & White.

I'm going to offend some people but it has to be said:

when you get deep into the occult you learn that black folks are the lowest reincarnated spirits...

this is subconsciously known by all on this earth.

now am I saying all whites are good and all blacks are bad... no, it depends on their 'choices' in this cycle, what they actually do...

but the propensity to do things that has a... how shall I say it.. bias on it.

Jesus. THANK YOU for this fucking brilliant post. For real, it's the first truly sane post I've seen here in two months.

This is EXACTLY the problem.

It gets a little deeper, but I just want to sit here for a bit in gratitude that there are still people out there willing to go deeper to find the answers in the mystery (the mystery being the subconscious).

Re: Racial Division: The subconscious stigmas attached to the words "Black" & "White"
Back when I was in grade school and then high school in the 1950s and 60s there were only a few different races in the world, two of which were Caucasian and N egro. Those two terms did not at all denote one as being good and the other bad - they were just descriptors.

Then somewhere along the line Caucasians were no longer but were instead called "Whites",,, and N egroes were called "Blacks".

Why this change? The only rationale I can come up for why these changes took place is simply to drive a wedge between these two groups of people by referring to them using terms that are as different as you can get.

I would think that the terms Caucasian and N egro don't at all suggest that these two groups are different or that one group is necessarily better than the other. However, the use of the terms White and Black certainly do just the opposite of this.

FWIW - I used the term N egro because I am not sure GLP would permit the use of the combined spelling.

Re: Racial Division: The subconscious stigmas attached to the words "Black" & "White"
Basically, if you look at the human story of the world as a metaphor for The Mystery, white people metaphorically represent consciousness and black people metaphorically represent the subconscious.

Consciousness is light, it is where light exists. Consciousness is all-knowing of itself and its "important hereness." It is dominant and if it so chooses it can shut out anything it doesn't want to become aware of by shining so bright it blinds all distinction. It is also terrified of that which it does not know, that which whispers but it cannot reach to illuminate.

Subconscious is dark, black, and mysterious. It has passion, it is wild, it is untamed. It's where the heart is, so it is the birthplace of love. It has depth and it has a wealth of human history.

It is always the instinct of the conscious mind to subvert and enslave the subconscious when it gets too close, because the subconscious represents the unknown, the "other." The dangerous one with urges that must be controlled at all costs.

And so we act that out metaphorically, even though this metaphor is a lie. It is based on millenia of misunderstanding two things:

Black people are human beings. The skin color is irrelevant. The roles we make each other play to perpetuate a faulty metaphor is the problem.

Secondly, the subconscious mind may be scary and it may be unknown, but it is full of WHO YOU ARE - and why would you be so afraid of your own self as to keep half of yourself (the poetic, passionate half) chained in a dungeon instead of sharing your light with it as it so clearly wants?

That's not what the subconscious needs. The subconscious is fertile ground. It's where the roots of the flower of life are embedded.

The subconscious mind needs light and air and a healthy amount of watering. It needs care love and nurturing.

A funny thing happens when you love the subconscious mind. It reflects back love. When I was terrified of my subconscious, it reflected back terror that manifested in the world.

When I loved it, it showed that love.

Now I just let it show me everything the way it is. And we're pretty cool.

That is where we all very much fall short these days. We do not discipline our conscious mind/thoughts-we-share. We let those run amok while we keep trying to hold down the subconscious terror.

And the metaphorical representation of conscious thought is children.

The subconscious is not a child and it does not need to be controlled. Needing to "control" is part of the problem.

The conscious mind needs discipline, not control. But the conscious mind must choose to discipline itself, and it has a REALLY hard time with that, because when it is in immaturity (and almost everyone's is, no one ever wants to mature into a truly honorable human being anymore) the one main thing it commits to is not letting anyone else boss it around. Which is all fine, but if you don't let someone else discipline you, you must endeavor to discipline yourself.

And just in case we need to go over the difference between discipline and control: Discipline is structure - routine, self-regulation, a commitment to truth in all its forms, but not in such a way that it stifles, but encourages growth. Like a gardener training a rose up a vine.

Control is subjugation. It is subverting the natural impulse inside you (while discipline is not subversion, but regulation). It leads to turning on yourself, destroying yourself, because the life that you are destroys when it is forced downward (which is unnatural), but flourishes when it is allowed to grow upwards with structure supporting it.

AND (sorry for hijacking your thread, OP, this just gets me excited) ...

The way we play out the need to both discipline our conscious mind and nurture and care for our subconscious is through our two political parties.

Democrats are tasked with the nurture and care. What they nurture and care for, the Republicans should provide structure to both regulate and give structure to growth.

In a perfect world, where we understand the true metaphor, these two political parties would work hand in hand to grow and guide progress with intention.

We have completely broken down now. Our political leaders and the wealthy hoard all the natural fertilizer intended to encourage the growth of society and instead serve us all (on both sides) manufactured, synthetic fertilizer that is unhealthy and carries within it the impulse to destroy one another, because it is unnatural.
