Pretty flowers like sunflowers and the roots are edible like potatoes, recommended for diabetics as well. Just keep it slow at the beginning some people tend to produce more gas from eating them. Oh, and if you don't want them to spread over your whole yard, put a root barrier in or plant them in a big garden pot. Bonus, you can dig them out whenever you need them, don't have to store them inside. Just leave them out and dig up some if you want them. |

User ID: 77547432 Canada 11/13/2021 02:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | "How Much Does It Cost to be a Character from James Rawles’ Book, Patriots?" QUOTE Guns ($22,495) We’re told on page 18 that Dan Fong has a collection of 29 guns. We’re not given the names of all of them, but from what we can gather, here is what Dan Fong owns in the gun department as well as the current price (or estimated current price) of each. Model 97 trench gun – (?) As far as I know, these are unobtainable, so who can tell on a price. You can find mention of it on page 18. Remington 870 – $450 – This was the group standard shotgun everybody was required to purchase. Belgian FN/FAL – $1153 1960s Portuguese AR-10 – $900 – No data out there on accurate pricing here, but this is a reasonable estimate. SSG Scharf Shuetzen Gewehr sniper rifle – $1500 – I’ve never even heard of this rifle and can’t find any info price-wise on it, so we’ll assume $1500 based on the prices of other similar sniper rifles. Beretta Model 92SB 9mm – $950 – Another average price. Two Browning Hi-Power 9mm pistols – $2600 each – Total cost of $6200 S&W .357 magnum in stainless steel – $778 – We’re not sure on the make/model, but we’ll use the Model 60 as reference. Winchester Model 1897 – $1600 McMillan counter-sniper rifle in the .50 cal machinegun cartridge – $2000 – We have no data available on this that I can find, but I think $2000 is a conservative estimate here. Thompson-Center Contender in .223 – $642 – This is the used price. Walther P38 – $1300 M1A1 – $2000 M1 Garand -$1641 Group standard gun mags – $336 – It’s never specified how many mags each member would have. If we assume 8 mags per battle rifle and 8 mags per pistol, and further assume each battle rifle mag cost $12 and each pistol mag cost $30, we’re looking at $96 in battle rifle magazines and $240 in pistol magazines. Page 46 seems to show that 8 magazines was standard for the pistols. This is probably a low estimate on the number of mags each would have per battle rifle, however. This doesn’t account for mags for other weapons either, and as such, this is a very low estimate. Spare birdgun long barrel for the Remington 870 and screw-in choke tubes – $230 – $170 seems to be reasonable for the barrel from what I can find. Let’s assume there are three screw-in choke tubes which cost $20 each. Dozens of mags, cleaning kits, spare parts, holsters, and an Army LC-1 web gear harness with canteen and gun mag pouches – $500 – It’s hard to give an estimate on this one. The LC-1 costs $20. Holsters can easily cost $50 each, if not more. Cleaning kits are typically around $30. All this combined, $500 is a very conservative estimate here. H&K Model 91 – $700 – Hard to find data here, but $700 is likely to be cheap for anything made by H&K. Colt .45 Gold Cup – $1455 Takedown variant of the Ruger Model 10/22 – $390 Drop-in auto sear (6x) – $1050 – Page 64 details these cost him $175 each. Six sets of M16 lower receiver parts – $320+ Whether the lower receivers themselves are included in this is uncertain. Receivers alone would be $320. A low estimate of the total cost of all the guns, magazines, spare parts, holsters, and other firearm paraphernalia Fong had would come in at around $22,495. Keep in mind this is a very conservative estimate and it doesn’t take ammunition into account. According to the book, it appears as if members of the Group had nine years to prepare from the time the Group was started till the time the hyperinflation and societal collapse commenced. This would mean Fong spent approximately $2499/year on gun-related purchases from the time he got into prepping until Day Zero. END QUOTE Soulless fake humans are already AI. This guy has eaten super old military rations, checks them out for botulism and the like first, but there are some items that store really well and some do not. Quoting: AfterAll Also storing one thing with another might be bad too. He's very easy to listen to. Thank you for this. However, I want to point out the unhealthiness of MREs. Not too bad for one meal, but a proper dinner needs proper planning and proper provision. It's the sense that adds to a meal. A kind stir at the stove, the banter at the table. Diabetes during SHTF Page 175 and others The problem with most "prepping", is that you over prep, the wrong stuff! Most people will have to bug out of their location (even out of their original bug out location) at some point. From natural disasters to man caused ones, to Attacks from armed attackers. Sooner or later it will happen. So the first thing to do, is to Cashe most of those preps into multiple cashes. You can always dig them up if nothing happens and you need them. It is better to have them safely hidden, than to have to leave in a hurry and have almost no supplies, after all those years of Prepping. The second is to prep Cashes minimally. Just the bare essentials, as if you had nothing but what was contained in that Cashe. You can "prep' other things, but remember that those items are for "comfort" and thus expendable. You must be willing and able to leave them behind, if needed. Make sure all your basic "preps' are such that you can go mobile with them at any time, incase you have to bug out in a hurry or are on the run. You can't do that if they are scattered everywhere, unless you have good back up cashes to rely upon. For all of you that think you will bug in and stay put, you are dreaming. If things go bad, as in SHTF, some people will acquire military grade weapons including, tanks, mortars and artillery. They only need to break into the Local Natation Guard base, to get some of this stuff. These things do not discriminate upon who they rain destruction upon. Nor will you be able to defend against them. This especially will be a problem for Urban preppers. But eventually they will move out into the countryside, to get their needed resources from those Preppers. Now in this Scenario, you can try to stay and fight (and die) or go to Plan B and quickly Bug out, with what ever you can carry on your back. Which is where Prepping Cashes ahead of time, comes in handy. So beware of "putting all your eggs in one basket", lest it gets "dropped" and all of them, get destroyed or confiscated.. Leaving you without anything at all. I understand what you are saying about distributing your preps... The problem arises when bugging out. If you go rural, there will be someone there or along the way that will kill you for your preps... Rural local people don't like strangers. Since it's rural, there will be Animal Traps and pits. If your not related you will be killed... I used to live rural where my closest neighbor was a half mile away. I know the mentality and they will not tolerate strangers... So where are you going to bug out too. A cabin or place you have in the woods. Most likely, someone could already be there and call it their home. They will defend that too... The best solution would be to form a like minded group of neighbors that will help you defend the area... If your in the city, you're Fooked... Last Edited by DuckNCover on 11/15/2021 02:18 PM |

The plan is a 1 year supply, which would get me through a bad growing season. I already have a 1 year supply of breakfast and diner rations... Fresh Potato's are great, but don't last long. I've only been able to keep them for about 3 months. Sweet potato's last longer, about 6 months or more. They also cost more...
