WOOHOOOO! I love it! :)
Oil burns.
You can take a skillet, pout a little oil (or shortening) in it. Twist up a few pieces of paper towel for wicks, drop in the oil and light.
Poof, you have a burner to cook on.
You need to use a skillet/pan with a lid so you can snuff out the fire when y'r done cooking.
Quoting: Mental Case I believe one of my sisters, the one who went into the Army, over a decade ago, she told the rest of our family how soldiers in the field are supposed to heat up their MREs. There's a chemical mixture that is to mixed together that produces a strong exothermic reaction. Not exactly enough to severely burn a human, but enough to quickly heat up a MRE's contents so you're not eating up to ice cold MREs potentially out in the middle of nowhere. Quoting: darkwolf007 Is this something available to the public? Or is it only in MREs we'd have to get from an Army/Navy store? I once found bags that will heat a can of food - can't even remember where I got them.
