Growing garlic is easy...but getting the bulb to form under ground is the hard part.
I can't tell you how many garlic plants I've harvested with no bulb of garlic at the bottom.
Welp, today I tried something new...each plant is growing a seed head on top...I cut the seed head off 12 plants...then I have another 30 or so that I left the seed head grow.
I'll be able to directly compare the ones I cut & the ones I didn't when I harvest them (probably in about 2 weeks).
I'll letchya know.
Quoting: Mental Case Very interesting! I have grown garlic, with bulbs, and I have grown garlic, that was only the greens. However, I cannot account for either situation, because I was growing garlic with rosebushes - supposed to keep various problems away from roses. I remember some years having bulbs, and other times just greens, but don't recall when or way and I know I had no idea at the time - just looked at them, said "Hmm" and kept on going to the next task. Do explain to us what you learn. Our resident master gardener, and I do not mean one limited to only what a normal master gardener knows, may be able to educate us. Lance, are you present today?
