The heirloom corn I have takes 120 days to grow. I have a variety of sweet corn that only takes 90 days to grow (golden bantam). I've been thinking I should really try that seed...but it's very old :(
I'll be amazed if I can get any to sprout!

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80075339 Corn does not do well at transplanting, even from little things where you started it inside. You could make cups from newspaper, or use those little cups made to plant in the ground, and start that excellent corn indoors, to see what will germinate, before taking up landscape with it. As first - I have dibs on some of that corn seed, perhaps half a dozen, if it does well and you get to the seed-saving point. We have pretty short seasons here, and not very warm generally, so corn can be a difficulty. Would love just a few ears of my own home-grown. Quoting: Pooka 'He who plants only corn, harvests only tears'...that was a quote I stole in the Mountains of Mexico...no attribution is possible.
