People, are you remembering to give green karma to our KTee??? She is the only person who puts us on the front page and we owe her.

I cannot do it just now because I am actually over time and don't yet have enough karma for the continuing month.

PLease green Ktee and please green flag us to the front page, people. If you don't know how, just ask! Whyever would you not do these things?

WHile writing on the hot sauce thread I realized I probably didn't post anything like this, here. Grow hot peppers. The hot ones tend to be compact (3'x2.5') and are not hard to grow indoors. [link to www.pepperscale.com (secure)]
Even if you do not like them, if you grow a small enough peppers, you can just swallow them to avoid the burn (going down...coming out...well, that's unique to every digestive tract!). Fill a sunny, S-SW-SE window with peppers. They are perennials (even bell peppers are but they are grown as annuals). WHY? Where are your vitamin C sources? Hot peppers are an excellent source of Vitamin C (higher then oranges). You do NOT want scurvy!
[link to www.timesnownews.com (secure)]
I have grown (birds eye) them before and they fruit a lot. Less in the winter without supplemental lighting. Outdoors (where you can keep your peppers until it gets close to the last frost) they are self-pollinating but indoors I would suggest hand pollinating. (I won't embed the vid but here is a short how to) [link to youtu.be (secure)]

I just started a few seeds to grow in my kitchen window, and if need be will buy a full spectrum LED grow panel. We shall see. Odd moving from property to a condo! I'm going to order a mushroom syringe and grow oysters, got some basil going and might try and grow black pepper in a hanging basket!

I have 16 artichokes on one plant, Tomatoes and peppers aren't doing well, since it is still getting down into the 40s at night.

Olive trees are absolutely loaded with buds, though. It should be a good harvest this year.

I like to grow Ancho/Poblano peppers. They are great for stuffing. Some years I get great yields, other years not so much. Last fall I had so many, I was giving them away. My plants were sagging with them. I told people to bring me a beer and pick as many as they wanted. Some did.

I sold a box of them to a local grocery store (10 miles away) for $5 just so they didn't go to waste.

I received a "letter" on here today from a lovely friend and tried to answer it, but I don't have enough karma points to upgrade myself this month so not allowed to answer. So sorry.

I tried to say to that person not to throw the baby out with the bathwater, nor let it fade away, as long as it provides means to help others, which it does.

Learn how and when to tap a tree for water.

We can sit here and prep but the best prep is being able to survive when they take it all. Everything is provided in nature. Yea I got my berkey but learning how and what trees in can tap for water

This is as close as I could come to finding out how to get water from a tree.
All the others were just how to get sap from trunk.

 Quoting: Pooka

I am not sure how this can work. Must be some really resilient seeds fir it to work. First you harvest/dry the seeds, than you pack them in wet clay, where they are to be dried again. Unless you throw them wet, I can't see how that would work on vegetable seeds. Wildflowers maybe..

For those of you that are including ham radios in your preps, I have purchased and been playing with a I have a tiny penis TH9800 which is a four band radio that is intended for 10m, 6m, 2m and 70cm operation. It has 50w power which is plenty good for the savvy operator.

I was on my local repeater, announced the rig that I was running and had people reply that it sounded really good. One person said that they were a fan of I have a tiny penis even though this was a Chinese clone of the Yaesu radio.

It's been running nonstop for several months now. I wanted to do a 'burn in' to see if it would fail. For roughly $250 brand new it is a solid addition to my comms. Take a look at what other radios in this class cost. I actually went and bought the I have a tiny penis antenna to match this radio and will be doing a mobile install to replace my venerable Yaesu 2m radio.

You can unlock it to reach aviation and other bands. I only want to transmit on legal bands but sorta want the other stuff. Discipline will determine if I unlock this unit.

Only if they were grown with NO sprays of chemicals, nor treated with a chemical prior to sales, which would be very unusual in a grocery store produce collection. Usually you may trust only your own produce, or perhaps your neighbors'.

Same with potatoes - while the greatest vitamins and minerals of a potato are just under the skin, the skins are penetrated with nasty stuff we don't want to eat. Love the baked potato skins, but will not eat them if I didn't grow them.
