Check out Detroit, it's a big city and there's wildlife everywhere, from animals you'd typically find in a jungle to white tail deer.

Memphis might be a bit hot in the coming months. I’d hit Nashville.

And who the fuck goes to NYC on vacation ffs anyway hahahaahahahaha.

Or any other big city cesspool shithole dump.

I've heard Nashville might be the only big city worth checking out these days.

And has a brand new Governor who's new to politics.
Runs his Grandfather's construction business.

You might want to consider Cleveland. Of course, the rock and roll hall of fame is there for the kiddies, but there's much more.

The Cleveland tradition of handing-out cranberry double-knit slacks and white belts and shoes to arriving passengers seems a big step-up from traditional Hawaiian Lei garland give-aways. You can't go wrong.

I have friends who never had kids but MUSIC is their gig. They have a couple of bands that they tend to travel to see ... wrap an entire vacation around going to their concerts, be they in the Florida, California, Colorado, etc., even Hawaii, Europe, or the Far East.

They have a GREAT TIME doing that!! ... and usually find some other people to travel with them to see those bands all of them wrapping an entire vacation around the location where those bands are playing. (just the last 4 months they have been to both Europe and Hawaii to vacation while seeing one of their favorite bands)

Many good suggestions on this list!! No need to visit NYC to get hear some good music and enjoy life.

If you do go to Austin and you have kids also think about visiting down the road to San Antonio and do both the River Walk in the city AND go out to the last real period "Mission" down there, Mission San Jose, about 20 miles out of town. In visiting Mission San Jose you come to a MUCH better understanding about what happened at The Alamo than you do than by visiting The Alamo itself!! Partially run by the National Park Service, but with the Church itself still an operating Catholic Church, the Mission should still be open even with the Government closure (but call just to check). btw the Holiday Inn Express down near the River Walk is in the old Territorial Prison ... NEAT place to stay!!

My daughter has been wanting to go back and I have been saving to go over Christmas break this year as her Christmas present. I am like you and decided I wasn't going to do that. Luckily I've not booked anything so I'll use what I've put back towards something else.

Not at the gorgeous beaches - besides nothing can live when your body contains mostly alcohol - just don't mix it with tap water.

How does a family wait "for the RV to occur?" Do you arrange the pink flamingos in sacred rows while nibbling on jerky? Do you need special glasses similar to those used in an eclipse.

"Honey, grab me Rillin' Rock and a slice of last night's Spam. I got a feeling the RV is gonna' occur tonight."

Up and coming as a heroin redistribution stop from NYC, maybe. Otherwise, it's a shithole, just like every other city in PA, NY, and NJ.
