The Earth's magnetic field is produced by the flow of liquid iron within its core, three thousand kilometers below our feet.

Incorrect. Liquid Iron cannot generate or hold a Magnetic Field. Your Planets Core consists of Pure Plasma, which at the moment is expanding due to the over excitement of your Star.
Your Electro Magnetic Field is generated by your Van Allen Belts (Stator) and your rotating Iron Mantle (Armature).
Your Planet is undergoing an Expansion event. Planets "grow" in this manner that is why what you describe as Gravity changes in force as Planets grow larger.
These changes are being brought about by the approach of your Star's companion.
