OK, I just read thru' your thread, Storm, and now I am wondering if what's happening in my area is yet another tale-tell sign of what's to come. Just posted this earlier this evening about loud booms folks are experiencing last couple of days... Thread: Weird BOOMs north of Raleigh, NC...any ideas, folks? Truly excellent thread! O's Cookie was also reporting the noise in Montana, have you every listened to electricity ( like welding or with a plasma cutter) it gives a hum and a crackling sound. I believe these noises are high altitude electromagnetic static, not unlike the aroura borealis is made up of charged particles. This static is running thru gases and causing the noise. At least that's what I think .  Makes sense to me simply b/c I live in area that is one big-ass slab of granite and when thunderstorms roll over, we always seem to get more cloud-to-ground strikes. Was caught outside on my land when one rolled thru' and I kept telling person to listen to what you described. Saw O's C post where they're having booms, too. Well, I suppose we're all in this together and will hope for the best but prepare for the worst.
