WAIT! You mean Listerine isn't the cure for that????

Okay, just joking; Listeriosis can actually be pretty severe, especially for those with compromised immune systems. The preferred antibiotic is 500mg of Ampicillin taken 3 times daily in a ten-day course for moderate-pronounced infections.

But -in the good old days- many people probably DID try Listerine! Orignally used to sanitize surgical instruments in ER's, at various times it was also used as a floor cleaner and treatment for STD's before finally settling into it's newly-created market niche as a mouthwash!

Of course, this would NEVER have been a news item if people simply followed basic guidelines and WASHED THEIR PRODUCE THOROUGHLY BEFORE USING IT and the COOKED IT PROPERLY BEFORE EATING. Is it really worth skipping these procedures in favor of two miserable weeks spent in bed feeling like death warmed over?

I think not.
